Senior Cloud and Platform Architect

Role Summary

The Senior Cloud and Platform Engineer will be leading the development and adoption of TP ICAP's automated software delivery platforms and Infrastructure

The role requires a business minded, highly collaborative, team-focussed engineer with exceptional communication skills to work with developers in DevOps principles .

Accountabilities

Support the business in adopting processes and techniques to support an agile delivery model

Work with architects, developers, testers and operations to automate builds, deployment and release of applications running on-premise and cloud

Engineer tooling required for CI/CD to provide guidance on industry best practices for software deployment and development

Develop and enhance the firms IT Infrastructure and end user platforms through the use of automation and cloud services

Assist and architect where appropriate Microservices using containerisation and serverless technologies

Be the key automation driver for Environment management, logging and monitoring

Engage with vendors and service providers to build strong relationships that can be leveraged by directly influencing products and services in the interest of the company, enabling the negotiation of favourable terms and extracting the best possible use of external resources

To fulfil any additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Essential Experience:

Deep and broad experience of automation, Cloud platform and services and 'DevOps' principles in general

Platforms; Windows Server, Client Linux, RHEL, Ubuntu

Programming language, proficiency in one of the following along with a working knowledge on the other, C# (.NET Framework/Core), Python, Java, JavaScript (Node.js), Ruby, C++

Proficiency in at least one of the following scripting languages; Python, PowerShell, Bash

Developer tooling; Full stack CI/CD, GitLab, TFS, SVN ,GitHub, Jenkins, CloudBees, TeamCity, Nexus, Jira, AWS pipelines with Repo, Build, Deploy.

Containerisation technologies -AWS, Fargate, ECS and EKS. / Openshift or Docker EE

Serverless technologies such as Lambda and Functions

Deep knowledge of CloudFormation with the ability to write templates from scratch for complex setups like auto scaling groups and launch configurations

IAM roles and managing cloud security principles, ability to architect application level security. SAML federation specifically Okta

Ansible playbooks, Ansible Tower, Octopus Deploy

Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana, CloudWatch

Experience with messaging and streaming platforms

Risk Responsibilities:

Ensure that you understand the risks and controls on your department; what could go wrong, what controls you have to prevent/detect or contain these.

• Be aware of your role as a leader; set the tone in your area, emphasise the importance of adhering to the Code of Conduct, and discharging your risk management responsibilities. Be proactive and deliver thorough risk management driving behaviours which comply with policies;

• Ensure that you and your team are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility;

• Take responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of policies, processes, systems and controls as required by the Risk function and the Policy Owners;

• Ensure that you and your staff engage appropriately with the Risk team to ensure the effective implementation of all risk management processes. Provide input to these processes if requested (for example Risk and Control Self-Assessment process, scenario analysis, 'Deep Dive' reviews and any others, as required);

• Receive and review management information (MI) relating to breaches and trends; take these into account when reviewing conduct;

• Report all events and breaches where there has been a failure to adhere to policies and controls to the Compliance function

• Escalate risk events immediately and log them within 24 hours using the risk event capture form on the intranet
