About the role
Role: Senior Storage Architect
Location: Germany and near-shore (Romania, Poland)
Domain: Storage Storage Architect Skills and Competencies
Infrastructure:
Deep understanding of infrastructure technology across a broad range of infrastructure products and their supporting data centers, specifically those corresponding to storage and backup services
Extensive knowledge of storage infrastructure, specifically within cloud based services
Strong architectural understanding through all architectural disciplines (business, data, application, technical and security)
Product Management :
Ability to develop and deliver storage products that ensure the reliability and operation of the organization’s storage infrastructure
Successful delivery assignments in various Product Management organisations that provided experiences across the entire spectrum of Product Management responsibilities
Successfully led major change initiatives that resulted in new products going successfully from ideation, through commercialisation and into sustained operations
Business Management:
Relevant experience working in the Financial Services industry
Successful business development assignments involved in shaping strategies and then delivering tailored products that generate significant value to the infrastructure client.
Successful Business management experience to understand how financial systems are designed/ implemented and to understand how to engage effectively with the annual business cycles
Significant experience in identifying opportunities for improvement in existing processes/functions in alignment with the objectives of the Target Operating Model
Objectives and Tasks of the Storage Architect
The Storage Architect function is primarily responsible for Deployment and Product Engineering tasks. Identify technical solutions that would resolve the gaps of recovery requirements to current capabilities in the event of a successful cyber attack that results in major data corruption. Re-architecting of the backup and storage technical processes or applications architectures. Evangelizing the strategy and bringing about cultural change
This includes matching application requirements to standard infrastructure products and using build capabilities across all technology domains.
Implement multi-year product roadmap
Block (SAN) – Refreshed fabric and storage, increased consumption density, migration to Flash PAYG vendor model
File (NAS) – Partner with NetApp to achieve multi-tier engineered solution, expansion of use cases supported and integration with automated Product Store
Object (CAS) – New immutable storage cloud platform with low-cost S3 object storage
Cloud – GCP – workload adoption onto public cloud platforms
Backup – Refreshed TSM infrastructure with faster RTO’s on cheaper storage with retention and archiving capabilities
Facilitates infrastructure optimization project delivery
Implements of in-house and third party software, both directly and through internal service provision
Manage storage footprint and capacity management
Build utilization tool to demystify storage utilization and ROI for CIO’s
Enhance multi tenant solutions to reduce number of single tenant instances driven by apps that don’t share well
Build best in class migration factory principles and process for SAN, NAS and Backup
Implement new retention policy across the estate and backup only production
Build vs Buy analysis for new tools for Chargeback, Automation, Monitoring, Performance and Capacity Management
Develop storage configurations and offerings in the organization that is strategic, innovative and can scale out globally
Set global engineering build standards that our business units can leverage to make their time to market faster and more successful. With the same token, our operations and support teams can install, configure, and support in an efficient, well-documented manner
Support and evolve the Cloud Strategy on behalf of the Cleint Group
Providing a leadership role within Cleint on the strategy and build out of the Cloud team within Storage Services
Understanding and helping to define the implications of the Cloud Strategy on infrastructure application development, Information Technology operations, security impact, compliance, privacy, identity management, data integration and mobility
Defining best architectural practices, policies and standards for teams looking to adopt cloud storage and backup solutions
Programming experience in Java/ JavaScript a plus
Working knowledge of databases, Client/ SQL Server/ Postgres
Practical experience with GCP/ Client Web Services/ Azure/ Openshift
Knowledge of Software Delivery Life Cycle best practices and design
Experience in conducting Cloud Readiness Assessments observing business and technical perspectives
Accountability for L4 BUILD activities include:
Engineering
Audit Remediation (technical)
SME Architect managing the security and compliance of the product/tool and managing governance and escalation to central forums (SAC, CAF, CTO Architecture forum)
Maintain Tech Direct product updates and relationships
Test planning and System Interface Testing (SIT)
Automated Testing including Product, Automated and Compatibility Regression testing suites
Ticket and Vendor issue/incident queue quarterly review and remediation planning
Senior Technical Information Security Officer (TISO)
Information Technology Application Owner (ITAO)
Adherence to the GCIO Delivery, Execution and SDLC minimum standards
