Skills-

• Advanced technical background for Linux based server operating systems (Linux SuSE or Red Hat)

• Practical experience with OS operation, upgrades, patching and security

• Server to storage connectivity technology (NFS, CIFs, FC, iSCSI, etc.)

• IT experience with network services like DNS, LDAP

• Networking experience with the suite of TCP/IP

• Good server and network security knowledge, OS hardening, antivirus solutions (McAfee)

• Script programming (at least one of Shell, Perl, Python, Go, etc.)

• Professional experience with server automation tools

• communicating in English fluently ​

• Experience in server operation in large, non-homogeneous landscapes (+1000 server)

• Experience with OS monitoring, backup/restore, configuration automation technologies (CHEF)

• some experience with server virtualization (VMware)

• Experience with public cloud service provides (preferred AWS)

• Plus: HPE and Lenovo server technology

• Server configuration automation with CHEF

• Description:

The SAP Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) is driving a project to design & build a new HEC Customer Edition service with different vendors. This new service aims to achieve on prem cloud services around provisioning, operations and engineering. Within this project you will be responsible for installing, configuring and operating bare metal Linux servers. Additionally you will support the automation development for all phases of the bare metal server life cycle in HEC CE. You will be working in tight relationship to the established Server Management team of SAP ECS which is responsible for server operations on all HEC platforms.

One of your main objectives is to bring the process to the state that the first customers can be delivered successfully with bare metal Linux servers in HEC CE together with our partners. It is expected that you work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand the technology, integrate new concepts into the existing HEC environment, provide documentation and input for the automation development.

Delivery-

Deployment, configuration and administration of bare metal Linux servers within the HEC CE environment according to the existing standards

Support server operations in HEC CE covering the full server life cycle

Ensure server and network security following SAP guidelines

Provide documentation for the HEC Server Management team to prepare handover of operations to them

Ensure high availability of the systems

Troubleshoot and resolve any hardware and OS related issue that impact the business.

Strong collaboration with other units within ECS Delivery and outside
