Job Title: Acoustic Test Engineer (Test Engineer II)

Duration: 12 Months (Potential for Extension)

Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Acoustic Test Engineer to join an innovative engineering team focused on testing next-generation wearable audio devices. This is a hands-on laboratory role where you will perform acoustic measurements, execute standardized test procedures, and document results within a quality-controlled environment.

You will work closely with senior engineers to ensure accurate testing, maintain equipment calibration, and contribute to the validation of advanced audio technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Execute acoustic test protocols for wearable audio devices, including:

Gain measurements

Output level testing

Frequency response analysis

Calibration verification

Set up and operate acoustic measurement equipment, including:

Head and Torso Simulators (HATS)

Acoustic couplers

Audio interfaces

Acoustic calibrators

Device fixtures and mounting hardware

Configure and operate acoustic measurement software for:

Device configuration

Channel setup

Microphone and speaker calibration

Measurement capture

Data archiving

Review measurement results against acceptance criteria and identify any anomalies or calibration issues.

Generate detailed, traceable test reports and maintain accurate quality records.

Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, and testing documentation.

Escalate technical or calibration-related concerns to senior engineering staff.

Support continuous improvement of laboratory testing processes.

Required Qualifications

1–3 years of hands-on experience in acoustic testing, audio measurements, or laboratory testing.

Experience performing:

Sound Pressure Level (SPL) measurements

Frequency response testing

Gain and level measurements

Familiarity with acoustic measurement hardware and laboratory equipment.

Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation skills.

Basic scripting experience using Python and/or MATLAB .

Ability to follow standardized procedures with high accuracy.

Comfortable working independently within structured engineering processes.

Experience using macOS or willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:

  • Real-ear measurements

  • Insertion gain

  • Hearing devices or audiology testing

  • Experience working in regulated or quality-controlled environments (e.g., medical devices or ISO-compliant processes).

  • Familiarity with Electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS).

  • Experience troubleshooting acoustic measurement issues and improving laboratory test setups.

  • Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in one of the following or a related technical discipline:

  • Acoustics

  • Audio Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Physics

  • Biomedical Engineering

  • Audiology / Hearing Science

  • Music or Audio Technology

  • Equivalent hands-on laboratory testing experience will also be considered.
