About the role
SUMMARY
Responsible for architecture associated with a global infrastructure, the ideal candidate will have a broad experience with Microsoft server operating systems as well as directory services (Active Directory) and IP Address Management (DNS/DHCP), from a design and implementation perspective. The candidate will help bring the environment to the next level by architecting strategic infrastructure solutions in support of the above.
The position requires proven engineering, reasoning and problem solving skills in order to identify and overcome infrastructure related challenges to optimize IT systems investments.
Well versed in the Microsoft platform, from an infrastructure perspective as well as from a development platform and systems integration perspective, the candidate will be a key individual to work with application groups and help define standards.
A good understanding of the regulatory and compliance challenges that are faced by financial companies as well as how they apply to the different components of a regulated technology platform is a requirement, as is the familiarity with industry standards like rights management, encryption, and other data masking technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in development of architectural strategy, including technology standardization and modernization.
Lead the Microsoft server operating system discipline, ensure proper interface with other engineering groups to ensure continued relevance of the technical solutions, in-depth knowledge of every aspect of the environment, expertise in troubleshooting and identifying problems in support of on-call persons with Level 2/3 expertise.
Develop design standards and guidelines, as well as automation to insure adherence
Implement automation to achieve the following:
· Operating system build and deployment
· Server role component installation by technology and business functionality
Ensure that solutions implemented address consistency requirements of the data and system availability.
Ensure ongoing evolution of the Microsoft server operating system platform to support business requirements and align with the corporate IT strategy.
Work with development groups to ensure implementation of standards.
Evaluate, test and provide recommendations for new tools for enterprise management.
Proactively engage in enterprise capacity planning and performance management.
Effectively collaborate with stakeholders to gain collective buy-in on architecture strategies.
Mentor other architects and engineers on best practices.
Develop and implement disaster recovery methodologies that are self healing and transparent to the user community.
Proactively instrument the infrastructure to provide early detection and warning of potential problems. This will include an understanding of current usage patterns and other capacity issues.
Perform various special projects within the Information Technology Group as assigned.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
-
A Bachelors Degree in MIS or Computer Science or a minimum of ten years as a Lead/Senior Engineer in the financial services sector is required. MCSE, Server Infrastructure; MCM or MCA in Directory Services preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS (Required)
Proven experience with Microsoft Windows server operating system architecture and engineering, validated through at least 8 years of design and support experience and at least 2 years of System Center product (Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, etc...) design and support. Former experience with Microsoft SMS/MOM is welcome. At least 2 years of Active Directory 2012 hands on experience in a multi-site/multi-domain environment are required.
Strong experience with IP Address Management solutions (e.g Microsoft, InfoBlox, QIP) and the associated challenges in regard to interface/links to similar external infrastructure (e.g. zone transfers, forwarding).
Strong experience with AD enterprise certificate services, rights management server, AD federation services, and identity manager.
Strong experience with scripting and automation technologies, specifically PowerShell, System Center Orchestrator, and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit/Operating System Deployment
Strong experience with distributed file system (Client).
Strong experience with Client ProLiant and Cisco UCS blades and servers, enclosures and management systems.
Moderate experience with Client Web Services and Microsoft Azure from the perspective of EC2 instances, S3 and EBS storage, Direct Connect/Express Route, etc...
Advanced troubleshooting skills and good writing skills to help implement and document standards and procedures.
Working knowledge of Microsoft development technologies (.Net Framework, C#, COM, ADO, OLEDB, Data Access, Active Directory, SQL Server, Web Services, Security, ADFS, AD-RMS, clients and servers communications protocols).
Any understanding of the Linux platform in support of directory services, authentication, and access control integration is a plus.
