Data Engineer III

As a Data Engineer III at Expedia Group, you will be joining the Finance Business Intelligence team to support the Product Technology Finance organization. Your role will involve driving data infrastructure and analytics solutions that are crucial for strategic financial planning, reporting, and operational decision-making across the Global Finance community. You will collaborate closely with Finance and Technology partners to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and usability to achieve Expedia's business objectives. Key Responsibilities: - Develop new and improve existing end-to-end Business Intelligence products, data pipelines, Tableau dashboards, and Machine Learning predictive forecasting models - Drive internal efficiencies through streamlined code documentation, Tableau development to maintain high data integrity - Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, identify automation opportunities, optimizations, back-end data issues, and data reconciliations - Proactively engage with subject matter experts and stakeholders to collaboratively solve problems and provide valuable insights - Respond to ad hoc data requests, conduct analysis, and communicate key insights to stakeholders - Translate complex data into meaningful insights that enhance the analytical capabilities of the business - Support migration of data pipelines from on-premises to cloud workplace, including data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets - Develop dashboard on cloud environment to enable self-service reporting - Communicate clearly on current work status and design considerations Qualifications: - Bachelor's in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field - 5 years of experience in a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or Business Analyst role - Proven expertise in SQL, with practical experience in query engines such as SQL Server, Starburst, Trino Querybook, and data science tools like Python, R, and SparkSQL - Proficient in visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or similar, and excel modeling report automation - Exceptional understanding of relational and dimensional datasets, data warehouse, and data mining principles - Experience in building robust data extract, load, and transform (ELT) processes from multiple databases - Demonstrated record of defining and executing key analysis and problem-solving with minimal supervision - Background in analytics, finance, or a comparable reporting and analytics role is preferred - Experience working in a hybrid environment using both on-premise and cloud technologies is preferred - Experience in manipulating large datasets on the cloud platform is a plus Expedia Group is committed to creating an inclusive work environment with a diverse workforce, where all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.
