Cake Php Developer

Role: PHP / CakePHP Developer Location: Gurugram Experience: 6 to 8 years Job Summary We are looking for a talented PHP developer with solid experience in both PHP 5.x and PHP 7.x, who can hit the ground running on our web application projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the CakePHP framework, be comfortable working with relational databases (SQL Server), and possess a good command of front-end technologies. You will collaborate with product owners, UI/UX designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities Develop & maintain server-side components using PHP (5.x/7.x) and the CakePHP framework. Design, implement, and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and queries in SQL Server. Integrate front-end assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and jQuery) with back-end services. Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices. Troubleshoot and debug production issues, providing timely fixes and root cause analysis. Write unit/integration tests and contribute to the CI/CD pipeline. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, propose technical solutions, and estimate effort. Stay updated on emerging technologies and suggest improvements to the existing stack. Required Qualifications Experience: 6 to 8 years of professional software development experience. PHP: Strong knowledge of PHP 5.x and PHP 7.x (syntax, OOP, error handling). Framework: Hands-on expertise with CakePHP (preferably versions 2.x & 3.x/4.x). Database: Good understanding of relational databases, especially Microsoft SQL Server (schema design, indexing, query optimization). Front End: Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), AJAX, and jQuery. Version Control: Experience with Git (branching, pull requests, and merge conflicts). Tools: Familiarity with IDEs (PhpStorm, VS Code), debugging tools, and build pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI). Communication: Strong written & verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Preferred (Nice to Have) Skills Experience with other modern PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony). Exposure to front-end frameworks/libraries such as React or Vue.js. Understanding of RESTful API design and consumption. Knowledge of Docker / containerization concepts. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
