Data Scientist - ML Engineering

Role Overview: FenixCommerce, an AI-powered shipping intelligence platform in Noida, India, is seeking a Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer to take ownership of impactful models in the field. This hands-on role involves designing and implementing data pipelines, training and evaluating ML models, and deploying them to production to enhance delivery predictions and carrier decisions for major retailers. You will work closely with real logistics data to develop models that directly impact business outcomes. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable pipelines for processing large volumes of shipping and order data - Develop, train, tune, and validate ML models for prediction tasks like delivery-date estimation, transit-time forecasting, and carrier performance - Deploy models to production environment with proper versioning, monitoring, retraining, and performance tracking (MLOps) - Engineer features from real-world logistics data to enhance model accuracy - Collaborate with backend engineers, product, and operations teams to implement model outputs into product capabilities - Define metrics, conduct experiments, and continuously enhance model quality against real business objectives Qualifications Required: - Strong hands-on experience in data science and ML engineering, with a focus on building data pipelines and training production models - Proficiency in Python and SQL, capable of writing clean, production-quality code - Practical knowledge of ML frameworks like scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, or TensorFlow - Experience with large-scale data tools such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, or similar, and working with big data in cloud environments - Familiarity with AWS services like SageMaker, S3, and modern MLOps practices for deployment, monitoring, and retraining - Preference for candidates who have studied at a top 25 engineering / IT institution in India (e.g., IITs, NITs, IIITs, BITS, or equivalent) - Exposure to time-series forecasting, predictive modeling, or supply-chain / logistics / e-commerce data - Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time data at high volume You will have the opportunity to own high-impact models end-to-end, working on challenging problems at the intersection of AI and logistics within a dynamic and innovative team environment at FenixCommerce.
