Job role Leader – New Product Development - Plastics Department Manufacturing Engg Function (if applicable) NPD – Plastics - Development of new projects Location Pune Key Performance Indicators Development of plastic injection parts – Right first time and on time Development of molds, mold try out and Part submission up to PPAP Product development - project completion as per customer agreed targets of Quality, cost, and lead time. Achieving Right First Time. List of Critical Tasks (Without which the KPI cannot be achieved), Knowledge and Skill (Mapped to each critical task) Critical Tasks Knowledge Skill Feasibility review of parts Injection, molded part design review Various plastic raw materials and their processing requirements Conceptualize tool design (2 plate mold, 3 plate molds, HRS systems, various gating considerations, insert molding, sliders, cams, 2 stage ejector systems) Injection molding Process understanding (part wall thickness, drafts etc.) Use of process understanding to develop parts of expected quality with min cost & min time to develop the part Stagewise process design for injection molding process Process flow for injection molded parts Process flow diagram (PFD) Use of process understanding for process design Prepare Quality plan for product development Understanding flow simulation reports and its use for concept design PFMEA Use product and process knowledge to build P FMEA for mold and molding process Approval of injection mold design (back up calculations to meet the part dimensions, mold construction, molding machine selection) Types of molds, mold construction Tonnage calculation; molding machine selection Cycle time estimation Raw material processing conditions & limitations Mold design Checklist Use of knowledge to make molds to produce expected quality parts Experience (No. of years & required field experience) 12-18 years experience in similar industry & function Age 33 - 40 years Qualification BE Mechanical, PG Tooling – Premium Institute Professional Courses (preferred) Tool design & manufacturing, NTTF, GTDC
