Job Summary The Media Technology Support department is recruiting Student IT Operations Technicians to provide timely and effective multimedia support to end-users in classrooms and other learning spaces. The successful candidate will be assigned specified responsibilities based on the duties listed below: Distribution, setup and retrieval of multimedia equipment for classes and events at university facilities, as well as off-campus locations. Monitoring and troubleshooting of multimedia systems in classrooms and various campus locations. Training of Faculty, Staff and Students on proper use of multimedia systems. Preventative maintenance of multimedia systems in classrooms and various campus locations. Assisting with equipment reservations and checkout. Ensuring that departmental storerooms are kept clean and properly organized. General relocation and setup of office equipment and supplies. Monitor video conferences to ensure that all sites are connected with proper audio, video and content. Monitor scheduled lecture captures to ensure all sources are present and properly recorded. Work Closely with field Technicians to quickly resolve any issues that may arise. Ensure that maintenance and repair issues are reported immediately and work with engineers to provide timely resolution. Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance of multimedia systems to ensure all equipment is fully functional. Desired Qualifications Experience with multimedia equipment, computers and peripheral devices. Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, web browsers and media players. Customer service oriented and possess the ability to interact with students, faculty and the general public. Able to work well with other members of staff in a team-oriented environment. Ability to lift forty (40) pounds without mechanical assistance. Job Category Student Assistant Work Schedule Hours will vary based on class schedule and departmental needs. Student Disclosure Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters. During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated. Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
