About the role
Job Title: Value Engineering (VE) Engineer Job Description: We are looking for a Value Engineering Engineer to join our Estimation & Cost Engineering team. The role is responsible for improving project cost-efficiency without compromising function, quality, or design intent, by reviewing designs, drawings, and BOQs to identify and validate cost-saving alternatives. Key Responsibilities: Reviewing designs, drawings & BOQs to identify cost-saving alternatives materials, specifications, construction methods that don't compromise function. Function Analysis using formal VE methodology (FAST diagrams, Function Analysis System Technique) to break each building element into its core function and cost. Conducting VE workshops/studies with architects, structural consultants, MEP consultants, and the client at key design stages (schematic, DD) — a structured multi-day session, not ad-hoc suggestions. Alternative material/method proposals with life-cycle cost comparison (not just first cost — maintenance, durability, energy costs over building life). Cost-benefit & risk analysis of each VE proposal, presented to management/client for approval. Coordinating with the estimation/BOQ team to quantify savings, using rate analysis and IS code specs to prove out substitutions. Tracking VE savings against the original budget/BOQ throughout the project, and reporting % cost saved without scope compromise. Vendor/material research — staying current on new materials, prefab/modular options, and alternate technologies that reduce cost or construction time.
