Role Overview: As a Java Application Developer intern at Future of Nation, you will be responsible for assisting in designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based applications that support the platform's learning and mentoring experiences. Your day-to-day tasks will include implementing current features, writing clean and efficient code, fixing bugs, and contributing to backend services and APIs. You will collaborate with senior developers, participate in code reviews, and work on microservices or Jakarta EE/Spring-based modules to enhance application performance and reliability. Additionally, you will be involved in writing basic technical documentation, testing application components, and contributing ideas to improve the overall learner experience. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based applications for the platform. - Implement current features, write clean and efficient code, and fix bugs. - Contribute to backend services and APIs. - Collaborate with senior developers on microservices or Jakarta EE/Spring-based modules. - Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality. - Help improve application performance and reliability. - Write basic technical documentation. - Test application components. - Contribute ideas to enhance the overall learner experience. Qualifications: - Strong foundation in core Java and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). - Familiarity with enterprise Java technologies such as Jakarta EE and the Spring Framework. - Understanding of microservices concepts and interest in building distributed applications. - Basic knowledge of RESTful APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and version control systems (e.g., Git). - Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Ability to learn quickly, write readable code, and follow coding standards and best practices. - Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote setup. - Interest in edtech, mentoring, or building tools that empower students is a plus.
