Piping Design Engineer Job Description A Piping Designer is a technical professional who develops detailed piping layouts, isometric drawings, and 3D models for processing plants, refineries, power stations, and industrial facilities. Unlike piping engineers who focus on stress analysis and calculations, piping designers focus on the spatial arrangement, routing, and documentation of piping systems within plant environments. A Piping Designer is a specialist who creates detailed layouts and drawings for piping systems that transport fluids, gases, and chemicals across industrial facilities. Skills for Piping Design Engineer Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and one (1) year of work-related experience Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university within twelve (12) months of graduation date Basic knowledge of engineering design, systems, calculations, along with application of engineering methods and construction methods & materials Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university within twelve (12) months of graduation date Obtained EIT License Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelors of Science degree program in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university Responsibilities for piping design engineer Preparation of Bulk, intermediate and final MTO Preparation, checking of Piping Layouts for Tanks, Pumps, Exchanges, Drums and Pipe Racks Preparation and checking of Equipment Layout for Process, O&G Plants Stress Calculations and Analysis with stress analysis reports Assists with the preparation of proposals Guiding a team of Engineers and Designers Manage and coordinate all the piping disciplines tasks internally in a part-project Participate in offshore surveys as required by the various projects Generate drawings and other documents according to project requirements Review mechanical systems designs and engineering studies prepared by local and international engineering firms for mechanical piping and pumping system infrastructure developments of chilled water cooling, sea water cooling, oil & gas
