About the role
Role Overview: You will be responsible for leading the design and engineering of pressure vessels and related equipment, ensuring compliance with ASME codes, and coordinating with drafting, fabrication, and project teams. Your expertise in PV Elite, sound engineering judgment, and ability to handle complete design responsibility for industrial projects independently will be crucial for this role. Key Responsibilities: - Design pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and associated mechanical equipment using PV Elite software. - Perform detailed design calculations as per ASME Code and relevant international codes. - Prepare and review design reports, calculation notes, and technical specifications. - Select suitable materials based on design conditions, codes, and client requirements. - Provide design inputs, sketches, and technical guidance to drafting teams for preparation of drawings. - Review and approve mechanical drawings for compliance with design calculations, codes, and specifications. - Ensure alignment between design calculations, drawings, BOMs, and technical documents. - Ensure designs comply with ASME, ISO, DIN, TEMA, and other applicable standards. - Address statutory and third-party inspection requirements. - Coordinate with project managers, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams throughout the project lifecycle. - Provide technical clarification to fabrication, assembly, testing, and site teams. - Maintain proper engineering documentation, revision control, and design records. - Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and weight optimization. - Suggest value-engineering and standardization initiatives. - Mentor junior engineers and support skill development within the design team. Qualifications: - Education: Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. - Experience: Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in mechanical design of pressure vessels. - Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Code and pressure equipment design principles. Proficiency in PV Elite (mandatory); familiarity with AutoCAD and 3D tools is an advantage. Good understanding of fabrication practices, welding requirements, NDT, and inspection stages. Ability to interpret P&IDs, datasheets, client specifications, and engineering standards. Good working knowledge of MS Office and engineering documentation systems. - Desired Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
