Telecommunications Technician needs 1-2 years experience
Telecommunications Technician requires:
must have own basic hand tools Knowledge of safety procedures Knowledge of test equipment Knowledge of fiber optics•Knowledge of communications systems•Knowledge of telecommunications switching technology Knowledge of computers and local area networking•Knowledge of fundamental radio frequency (RF) communications theory•Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP/Ethernet) Knowledge of VoIP fundamentals (RTP, jitter, delay, codecs) Knowledge of IP routing and Ethernet switching functions Knowledge of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless and VoIP Basic skill in reading and interpreting schematics and diagrams Skill in troubleshooting electronic equipment•Skill in operating test equipment such as multimeters, RF meters, transmitter test sets, trunked radio programmers, etc. Skill in providing customer care and support Skill in programming routers and switches including voice enabled networking devices Skill in configuring call routing in Cisco VoIP applications•Skill in troubleshooting basic LAN/WAN problems LAN/WAN quality monitoring systems including VoIP monitoring tools Basic skill level in Unix Basic RFL, Nortel operating system , Hyper Terminal for direct serial connection to radios and Notebook computer
Telecommunications Technician duties;
Lifts and carries up to 50 pounds Pushes or pulls up to 50 pounds Work involves finger/hand manipulation in using a keyboard constant standing and/or walking in assisting with installation and repair of equipment climbing, crawling, crouching or other non-sitting positions in punching down phone cable, testing, installations, cable pulls and tower climbing less than 20% of the time
