Description Broadband team works on 2nd generations of Harmonic (NASDAQ:HLIT) Cable Access products: actively developing the industry’s first software-based CCAP solution (“Cable OS”) and cloud native CMTS. These solutions allow to cable operator companies to deliver the IP-based data, video, and voice services to millions of customers. Focus is given to CableOS which will allow to get rid of the existing HW equipment and to migrate to the cloud, saving customers the enormous expenses for the support of HW network equipment. The system is based on microservice architecture and is running on the general purpose CPUs. It doesn’t require using ASICs and make possible to run the SW both on the bare metal servers as well as on the private cloud infostructure. CableOS is a pioneer in DOCSIS software defined networking (SDN) with all the benefits it gives to the service providers. GlobalLogic team is involved in development, manual and automated testing, as well as in solution integration at customers’ headend and further technical support 24/7 with providing professional services for Customers. This role is focused on design, implementation, and ownership of timing- and synchronization-related services, including Cable Modem periodic ranging. While prior DOCSIS or CMTS experience is not required, the ideal candidate has worked on similar problem domains such as real-time control systems, device coordination, timing/synchronization mechanisms, or low-level networking services. You will take ownership of complex system components, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and grow into a domain expert within a highly specialized networking environment Required experience & skills 5+ years of professional C++ development (C++17 or newer preferred) Strong understanding of: multithreading and concurrency performance optimization and low-latency systems Solid experience with object-oriented design and modern C++ patterns Development experience in Linux / Unix-like environments Hands-on experience with STL and Boost Ability to reason about stateful systems, timing, and control logic Systematic approach to problem solving and debugging complex distributed behavior Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams Relevant background Experience in any of the following areas is considered highly relevant, even without DOCSIS knowledge: Real-time or near-real-time systems Device coordination or control-plane services Timing, synchronization, or ranging-like mechanisms Networking systems interacting closely with Layer 1 / Layer 2 concepts Embedded-adjacent or hardware-aware software systems Telecom, networking equipment, or large-scale infrastructure software DOCSIS, CMTS, and Ranging specifics will be learned on the job. Nice-to-have skills Understanding of networking fundamentals (OSI model, Layers 1–4) Experience with distributed systems or high-performance networking software Familiarity with Thrift or similar RPC/IDL frameworks Experience using Python for test automation or tooling Exposure to algorithmic modeling, data analysis, or optimization (e.g., Julia, MATLAB-like tools) Interest in RF-aware or signal-adjacent problem domains (no PHY expertise required) Tech stack C++17 / C++20 STL, Boost Thrift Python 3 (test suites, tooling) Julia (algorithmic modeling and analysis) Linux userspace services Job responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain control-plane services for CMTS platforms Work on Cable Modem periodic ranging functionality: device timing and synchronization periodic state evaluation and correction coordination between control logic and large numbers of connected devices Develop performance-critical, multithreaded C++ components running in Linux userspace Ensure correctness, stability, and scalability under high device density and real-time constraints Participate in architecture and design discussions (scalability, reliability, fault tolerance) Collaborate closely with distributed international teams (system, PHY/RF, automation) Contribute to code reviews, debugging of complex production issues, and long-term maintainability What we offer Empowering Projects: With 500+ clients spanning diverse industries and domains, we provide an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects that leverage cutting-edge technologies.
