About the role
As a Backend-Focused MERN Stack Intern at Waygood, you will play a crucial role in developing high-impact digital platforms with a focus on backend engineering, system performance, and AI integrations. Your responsibilities will include: - Developing and maintaining RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js - Designing scalable, modular, and maintainable backend architectures - Implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms such as JWT and OAuth - Working extensively with MongoDB and Mongoose for database management - Building and optimizing complex database queries and utilizing MongoDB Aggregation Framework - Implementing caching strategies using Redis or in-memory caching for performance optimization - Integrating AI-powered APIs like OpenAI and developing automation workflows - Collaborating with frontend developers, integrating third-party APIs, and ensuring seamless communication between frontend and backend systems - Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving backend issues, writing clean and scalable code, and participating in code reviews Required Skills: - Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) - Experience with Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB - Understanding of RESTful APIs, asynchronous programming, and MVC architecture - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Good to Have: - Experience with MongoDB Aggregation Framework - Knowledge of Redis or caching mechanisms - Basic understanding of system design concepts Bonus Skills: - Experience working with AI APIs like OpenAI - Basic knowledge of React.js or Next.js - Familiarity with Docker, cloud platforms, or deployment workflows The internship structure includes 12 weeks of training followed by 23 months of internship with eligibility for a stipend upon successful completion.
