Role Overview As a Technical Lead - Backend (AI) , you will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of backend systems that serve millions of users. You ll work hands-on with the codebase, mentor engineers, and ensure our backend is scalable, performant, and future-ready. The role demands deep expertise in Python (FastAPI), async programming, and distributed systems, along with strong leadership skills to guide complex projects from concept to deployment. We re looking for a tinkerer at heart someone who stays ahead of tech trends, experiments with new tools and ideas, and isn t afraid to build quick prototypes or side projects to push the boundaries of what s possible. Key Responsibilities Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team. Posses high knowledge and ability to engineer out of the box solutions for complex problems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features that delight users. Own and drive the technical roadmap for core backend systems. Architect and build scalable, fault-tolerant microservices in FastAPI. Design and optimize asynchronous workflows for high-performance API calls. Integrate with vector databases and AI/ML APIs for intelligent, data-driven services. Guide design decisions on system architecture, database schema, and service orchestration. Write high-quality, maintainable code and set coding standards for the team. Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of engineering excellence. Ensure system observability, monitoring, and performance optimization. Evaluate and experiment with new technologies, frameworks, and tools. Encourage a culture of innovation through prototyping and hands-on exploration. Requirements 6+ years of backend development experience, with at least relevant experience in AI. Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI (or async-based Python frameworks). Proficiency in async programming (asyncio, asyncpg) and concurrent request handling. Solid knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and experience with vector databases. Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Hugging Face, or similar AI/ML services). Strong understanding of scalable microservices architecture and API design. Familiarity with real-time communication protocols (SSE/WebSockets). Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment (AWS or similar). Proven leadership ability mentoring, code reviews, and architecture decision-making. A personal track record of exploring new technologies, building side projects, or contributing to open-source. Bonus Points Contributions to open-source projects or personal apps in production.
