Engineering Manager - AI & Agentic Product (m/f/d)

YOUR ROLE

In this position, you will lead two teams that form the core of our product:

1. Machine Learning / Data Science: Focus on pricing & forecasting.

2. Agentic Application (Greenfield): You will build this team from scratch to develop a completely new, AI-driven product.

You are responsible for people management (disciplinary) for both teams. Your task is to bridge complex ML models and a scalable product. You will work closely with our staff engineers (full stack & ML), who set the technical guidelines and architecture.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Team Building & Scaling

• You will build the new "Agentic Application" unit. In the first phase, you will manage development with external partners and freelancers, while simultaneously recruiting the internal team.

• You are responsible for the entire hiring process (interview loops, case design, final decisions).

• People Leadership

• You act as coach and mentor for your teams. You take care of feedback, individual development paths, and a healthy team dynamic.

• You create structures where engineering quality and reliable delivery go hand in hand.

• Execution & Processes

• You establish a system for planning and release cycles that suits a startup.

• You ensure that ML experiments and frontend features integrate logically, and that we learn quickly through measurability (e.g., A/B tests).

• Product Focus

• You work closely with the product team on the roadmap and make pragmatic decisions when weighing trade-offs between UX, technical risk, and speed.

YOUR PROFILE

• Background: You have experience as an engineering manager or as a tech lead with a clear focus on people & processes.

• Builder Mentality: You are eager to build a team from 0 to 1 and establish processes where they do not yet exist.

• Communication: You can facilitate communication between ML experts, app developers, and product managers—clearly and solution-oriented, with no empty buzzwords.

• Stakeholder Management: You have experience not only "managing" external service providers, but also leading them operationally to prevent technical chaos. You know how to combine external speed with internal quality standards.

• Languages: Fluent German and English.

Tech Stack

• You should feel comfortable in our environment: Python (ML), TypeScript, Angular, AWS, and MongoDB.
