About the role
Lead Data Scientist Hilti is investing heavily in expanding its software and service portfolio and digitizing customer workflows. Our Business Unit Fastening & Protection Solutions (BU FPS) develops cutting-edge end-to-end solutions for structural connections, MEP supports, and fire protection. We see tremendous opportunities in leveraging data, advanced analytics, and Generative AI to automate and optimize design and engineering tasks for our customers (value engineering). As a Data Scientist within the newly created Data & Analytics team of BU FPS, your primary responsibility will be to explore, analyze, and model complex datasets to deliver actionable insights and predictive capabilities that enhance Hiltis customer-facing software and service solutions. You will design and implement advanced analytics approaches, train and validate machine learning models, and contribute to generative AI initiatives. Working closely with software and data engineers, ML specialists, and business stakeholders, you will ensure data-driven solutions are robust, scalable, and integrated into production systems to create measurable business impact. What Youll Bring A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; preference for a Masters degree. Proven experience (5+ years) in applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to real-world business problems, ideally in cloud-based environments (AWS or similar). Strong expertise in data preprocessing, feature engineering, model development, and evaluation, including experience with LLM architectures, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning. Hands-on experience with Generative AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI API) and familiarity with integrating models into production systems via APIs. Proficiency with AWS services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, Glue, Athena, and Lambda for analytics and ML workflows. Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities in English, and the capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while driving innovation and delivering measurable business impact.
