Position: R&D head - Medical devices Location: Chennai This is a global senior leadership role responsible for driving innovation, product development, product lifecycle management, and engineering excellence while leading a global team. for a $100M+ medical portfolio in Medical R &D Function. Key Mandates Drive new product innovation (NPI) using Stage-Gate methodology from concept to commercialization.Lead global R&D covering mechanical, electrical, electronics, software, testing, product support, and supplier development.Own product lifecycle management, sustaining engineering, cost optimization, and product quality improvements.Provide technical leadership for customers, production, quality, regulatory, and product management teams.Build and lead a high-performing global engineering team (15+ members).Ensure compliance with medical device and gas equipment standards.Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Quality. Core Responsibilities Innovation (50%) Develop and execute the global product innovation roadmap.Deliver New Product Introduction (NPI) projects on time and within budget.Manage engineering Stage-Gate processes and PLM systems.Identify new growth opportunities through customer and market insights.Product Care (25%) Drive continuous product improvement and sustaining engineering.Reduce product costs through redesign and value engineering.Improve product reliability, quality, and customer experience.Manage technical documentation and product technical files.Customer & Product Support (25%) Serve as the highest technical authority for customers and internal stakeholders.Resolve complex technical issues for key global customers.Support manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and product management teams. Ideal Candidate Profile Engineering Degree (Mechanical preferred); Master's preferred.10+ years of R&D leadership experience.Strong experience in medical devices, highly regulated industries, or gas control equipment.Expertise in fluid dynamics, pressure control systems, gas delivery systems, oxygen therapy, or medical gas equipment.Hands-on experience with Stage-Gate Product Development and PLM systems.Preference to those with a strong understanding of product standards for gas equipmentExperience leading multicultural, global engineering teams within multinational organizations.Communication: excellent oral and written communication skills, technical and non technical dipleen@hirerightt.com .
