Job Description L2 Payment Application Support (UPI / Middleware / MQTT) Role Overview The L2 Payment Application Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring stability, availability, and performance of critical payment applications and middleware components. This role involves incident resolution, root cause analysis, and proactive monitoring of UPI transaction flows, middleware services, and MQTT messaging infrastructure. Key Responsibilities UPI Support Monitor UPI transaction flows, settlement processes, and reconciliation. Handle L2 escalations for failed transactions, latency issues, and integration errors. Coordinate with NPCI and partner banks for issue resolution. Middleware Management Support middleware platforms (API gateways, ESB, message brokers). Troubleshoot integration failures between banking applications and payment gateways. Ensure SLA adherence for middleware services. MQTT Messaging Manage MQTT brokers used for realtime payment notifications. Monitor message queues, latency, and delivery failures. Perform log analysis and implement corrective actions. Incident Problem Management Provide L2 support for production incidents, ensuring timely resolution. Conduct root cause analysis and document fixes for recurring issues. Escalate to L3/vendor teams when required. Monitoring Automation Implement proactive monitoring dashboards for UPI/middleware/MQTT. Automate routine checks and reporting to reduce manual effort. Ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements. Required Skills Strong knowledge of UPI transaction lifecycle and settlement processes. Handson experience with middleware platforms (API Gateway, ESB, Kafka/RabbitMQ). Proficiency in MQTT protocol and message broker administration. Familiarity with Linux environments, shell scripting, and SQL for troubleshooting. Experience with incident management tools (ServiceNow, Jira). Good communication skills for crossteam collaboration. Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. 3 6 years of experience in payment application support or middleware operations.
