About the role
Job Overview The Senior System Integration Test Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for driving system integration testing (SIT), performance engineering, and quality strategy across complex ecosystems involving applications, cloud platforms, distributed systems, databases, and device integrations. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, leveraging modern testing tools, AI-driven testing practices, and data validation techniques to ensure scalable, high-performing, and reliable systems. A Day In The Life Key Responsibilities SIT Strategy & Leadership Define and implement SIT strategy, frameworks, and best practices Lead end-to-end system validation across APIs, applications, databases, cloud, and third-party integrations Provide technical leadership and direction for SIT across multiple programs Influence release readiness decisions and quality gates (Go/No-Go) End-to-End System Integration Oversee testing of complex, distributed, multi-system integrations Validate: API orchestration and service interactions Event-driven systems (Kafka, messaging platforms) Data pipelines and workflows Identify, analyze, and mitigate system-level risks and integration failures Performance Engineering & Scalability Lead performance engineering initiatives at enterprise scale Design and execute: Load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing Establish performance baselines aligned with business SLAs and KPIs Drive system tuning and capacity planning AI-Driven Testing & Advanced Automation Lead adoption of AI/ML-driven testing techniques, including: Intelligent test case generation o Predictive defect detection Anomaly detection in system and performance metrics Architect self-healing and adaptive automation frameworks Optimize test execution using data-driven and AI-assisted insights Automation & DevOps Integration Define and scale automation strategies across SIT and regression testing Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) Ensure continuous testing and shift-left quality practices Database & Data Engineering Validation Lead validation of large-scale data systems and pipelines Ensure: Data integrity across systems Accuracy of ETL and streaming pipelines High-volume transactional system reliability Optimize and validate: SQL queries, stored procedures NoSQL data consistency and performance Cloud & Distributed Systems Testing Drive testing strategies for cloud-native systems (Azure, AWS) Validate microservices and containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) Ensure reliability of distributed and event-driven architectures Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis Lead complex defect triage and deep root cause analysis across systems Resolve cross-layer issues involving: Application Database Infrastructure Establish proactive defect prevention mechanisms Mentorship & Technical Leadership Mentor and guide mid-level SIT engineers Act as a technical authority and escalation point Drive continuous improvement in: Testing processes Automation frameworks Tool adoption Stakeholder & Executive Communication Communicate quality, performance, and risk insights to leadership Translate technical findings into business impact and decision-making inputs Lead SIT governance meetings and cross-functional coordination What will help you thrive in this role Technical Expertise Testing & Automation Tools Selenium, Cypress (UI automation) Postman, REST Assured, Karate (API testing) Performance Testing JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, k6 Monitoring tools: Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics Programming / Scripting Strong proficiency in: Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript Database Expertise Advanced SQL (query optimization, stored procedures) Experience with: Relational DBs: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL NoSQL: MongoDB, Cassandra Data pipeline validation (ETL, streaming systems) Cloud & DevOps Azure, AWS CI/CD: Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions Containers & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes AI/ML (Preferred) Experience with: AI-driven testing tools Predictive analytics and anomaly detection Automation optimization using AI Key Competencies Strategic thinking and enterprise-level problem solving Strong leadership and technical mentoring skills Expertise in complex system integration and performance engineering Excellent communication and stakeholder management Ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement Preferred Experience Experience in large-scale, data-intensive systems Exposure to IoT, firmware, or hardware integration ecosystems Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and SRE practices Success Metrics Reduction in integration defects and production issues Achievement of performance SLAs and scalability goals Increased automation coverage and efficiency Improved SIT cycle time and release predictability Adoption of AI-driven testing practices Hubbell Incorporated Hubbell creates critical infrastructure solutions that power our customers, communities, people and the planet.
