Job Title: Principal Product Owner / Lead Business Systems Analyst Experience Level: 15+ Years This version balances high-level product strategy with the deep-dive technical analysis, process mapping, and data architecture clarity required for complex enterprise implementations (like RFID, inventory management, and microservices). About the Role We are seeking a highly seasoned Principal Product Owner / Lead Business Systems Analyst to drive the vision, detailed design, and execution of our enterprise-level products. With over 15 years of experience, you will act as the critical bridge between executive business stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams. Unlike a traditional high-level PO, this role requires a hands-on technical leader who can define the product roadmap and dive deep into complex system architectures, data flows, and process modeling. You will be responsible for translating high-level business goals into precise functional requirements, ensuring data integrity, and guiding architectural decisions for scalable, distributed systems. Responsibilities Strategic Product Ownership & Backlog Management - Define and communicate a clear product vision and roadmap aligned with overarching business objectives. - Own and prioritize the product backlog at scale, translating business epics into actionable, well-defined user stories with precise acceptance criteria. - Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions, assessing third-party SaaS, cloud-enabled on-premise solutions, and middleware integrations for architectural fit and cost efficiency. Advanced Business & Systems Analysis - Lead the creation of comprehensive, highly detailed process flow documentation for complex operational workflows (e.g., Distribution Center and Store operations, inbound/outbound logistics, and inventory regularization). - Map out end-to-end system interactions, request flows, and component integrations to ensure the entire team shares a unified understanding of the system architecture. - Define aggregation and consolidation logic for complex reporting requirements (e.g., rolling up multi-tenant or multi-store data to a higher organizational level). Technical Architecture & Data Integrity Alignment - Collaborate closely with Solution Architects and Engineering Leads to guide database schema design decisions (e.g., evaluating single shared tables vs. per-store/tenant configurations, and regional grouping logic). - Champion data integrity by defining strict validation rules, uniqueness constraints, and exception-handling logic (e.g., managing cross-store discrepancies, logging exceptions, and preventing invalid data entries). - Ensure non-functional requirements (scalability, performance optimization, and security) are explicitly captured and validated during sprint cycles. Stakeholder Alignment & Mentorship - Act as the primary translator between non-technical business units (Operations, Supply Chain, Finance) and technical teams (Developers, QA, DevOps). - Mentor junior Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Scrum teams on agile best practices, effective requirement gathering, and system-thinking. - Facilitate requirement walkthroughs, sprint reviews, and UAT sessions, ensuring surgical precision in delivery without breaking existing functionality. Qualifications - Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in Product Ownership, Business Analysis, or Systems Analysis, with a proven track record of delivering complex enterprise software solutions. - Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (Masters or MBA is a plus). - Analytical & Documentation Mastery: Exceptional ability to create clear, descriptive, and highly detailed process flows, data mapping documents, and functional specifications. - Technical Acumen: Robust working knowledge of: - Microservices architecture and API integrations. - Relational database concepts and schema design (e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL). - Data formats and validation (e.g., JSON/JSONB structures, payload mapping). - Agile Expertise: Deep hands-on experience managing backlogs in Agile/Scrum environments, with the ability to write technically precise user stories and acceptance criteria. Required Skills - Surgical Precision: A meticulous approach to requirement gathering and bug-fixing logic, ensuring no unintended side effects on current working functionality. - Systems Thinking: Ability to see the big picture of how a change in one module (e.g., store-level data) impacts the broader ecosystem (e.g., centralized reporting). - Collaborative Leadership: Adept at facilitating consensus among diverse teams and ensuring everyone is aligned on technical and business goals. - Cost & Resource Consciousness: Ability to balance feature delivery with deployment efficiency and infrastructure cost considerations. .
