About the role
As the Mechanical Department Lead, you will be responsible for delivering projects according to schedule and quality standards. Your key responsibilities will include: - Proficiency in working with international standards such as ASME, EN, API, IEC, PED, etc. - Reviewing and designing pressure vessels, tanks, columns, and exchangers - Validating design calculations per ASME Sec VIII, EN 13445, TEMA, API 650, etc. - Conducting design calculations and reviewing Mechanical Data sheets/specifications - Preparing Mechanical data sheets, Material Requisitions (MR), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and Purchase specifications - Managing Suppliers to ensure packages are designed, manufactured, and tested as per project requirements - Interfacing with clients, vendors, client project management, and other disciplines to provide the highest level of service - Delivering agreed design scope within budget hours and schedule - Reviewing and approving vendor drawings, TPI reports, and coordinating with vendors and other disciplines - Providing training and support to the team, collaborating with management, participating in vendor meetings, and addressing site queries as needed - Utilizing software like ANSYS, Nozzle Pro, PV-Elite for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and wind and seismic analysis In addition to the above responsibilities, you should possess the following skills: - Strong leadership and team management abilities - Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and clients - Problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and optimize project outcomes - Project management experience or knowledge to oversee project schedules, budgets, and resources - Experience in material selection per process requirements in compliance with various national and international codes and standards - Expertise in software used in the design of pressure vessels such as DISASU, PV Elite, and/or COMPRESS - Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools beyond the mentioned ones, such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or CREO - Knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in mechanical engineering - Experience in conducting failure analysis, risk assessment, and reliability engineering - Regulatory compliance knowledge related to safety, environmental, and quality standards - Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in engineering designs and documentation - Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with advancements in mechanical engineering practices - Familiarity with Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety (QEHS) standards and regulations is a plus As the Mechanical Department Lead, you will be responsible for delivering projects according to schedule and quality standards.
