JOB DESCRIPTION – System Integration Engineer (Hybrid UAV Platform) POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for the role of System Integration Engineer within our innovative UAS organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for end-to-end system architecture, design, and integration of complete UAV platforms (including Hybrid UAV systems) . In this role, you will play a pivotal function bridging system design and execution , starting from requirement definition, system architecture, CAD layout, and subsystem integration , while closely supporting the Technical Project Manager, Design, Validation, and Cross-functional teams . You will act as the single-point technical owner for system-level integration , ensuring all subsystems function cohesively to meet performance, reliability, and certification requirements Job Description UAV/Drone System Specifications Analyze Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) aligned with market and RFP requirements Define and maintain system-level technical specifications Develop: Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) System architecture definitions Ensure traceability from requirements design validation UAV/Drone System Design & Architecture Lead system architecture development for UAV platforms: Airframe, propulsion (electric/hybrid), avionics, payloads, communication systems Collaborate with design teams to ensure alignment with performance, endurance, payload, and environmental requirements Exposure to aerodynamics, materials, and process engineering is desirable Ensure design meets multi-RFP and certification requirements Design Management Expertise in: CAD layout and system-level integration checks PLM/PDM tools (e.g., Creo/Windchill) BOM structuring and configuration management Perform: Weight & Center of Gravity (CG) analysis GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis DFMEA and design risk assessments Ensure design integrity and manufacturability (DFMA) Interface & Integration Management (Critical Responsibility) Define and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs): Electrical (power, grounding, connectors) Communication (CAN, UART, Ethernet, RF protocols) Mechanical interfaces (mounting, tolerances) Ensure seamless integration across: Avionics, propulsion, payloads, GCS, and communication systems Identify and resolve integration conflicts proactively Integration and Testing Lead system-level integration of: Hardware, electronics, and embedded software Execute: Bench testing Hardware-in-loop (HIL) testing Ground and flight testing Ensure system meets: Performance targets Safety and fail-safe requirements Drive first-time-right integration builds Validation & Verification of Design Plan and execute validation activities: Numerical simulations Laboratory testing Environmental testing Flight testing and certification Ensure compliance with: MIL-STD, IP ratings, EMI/EMC standards Track validation plan vs actual closure Component Selection & Manufacturing/Sourcing Select suitable: Hardware and electronic components Sensors, payloads, and propulsion systems Consider: Payload capacity, endurance, range, environmental conditions Apply DFMA principles and support manufacturing readiness Work with sourcing teams for vendor finalization Software Configuration Configure: Flight controllers and autopilot systems Onboard computers and communication interfaces Ensure seamless data flow and system interoperability Issue Resolution & System Debugging Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for: Integration failures Test anomalies Field issues during trials Drive cross-functional closure of issues with timely corrective actions Configuration & Change Management Manage: System configurations (HW + SW combinations) Version control and traceability Implement and track engineering changes (ECR/ECN) Ensure alignment across builds, testing, and deployment Quality and Reliability Define and implement quality processes across: Design Development Testing Production Ensure system reliability under: Environmental stress Operational conditions Support certification and compliance readiness Documentation Maintain detailed documentation for: System architecture and design reviews Integration processes and configurations Test plans, reports, and issue logs Provide clear status updates to Technical Project Manager Collaboration Work closely with: Product Management & Marketing Design (Mechanical, Electrical, Software) Manufacturing & Sourcing Quality & Validation teams Act as system-level focal point for integration readiness Stay Informed Stay updated on: UAV industry trends Emerging technologies Regulatory and certification requirements (DGCA, Defence RFPs) Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's/Master's degree in: Aerospace / Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering 10–15 years of experience in UAV/Drone systems, aerospace, or related domains Strong experience in: System architecture & integration UAV subsystems (avionics, propulsion, payloads, communication) Proficiency in: CAD & PLM tools (PTC Creo, Windchill preferred) Communication protocols (CAN, UART, Ethernet) Knowledge of: EMI/EMC, environmental testing, certification standards Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and system-thinking skills DESIRED BEHAVIOURAL VALUES Commitment to common purpose and organizational goals Respectful and collaborative team engagement High integrity and ethical standards Strong ownership with accountability Proactive mindset with initiative-taking attitude Passion for innovation and making impact Ability to build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships Powered by Webbtree
