About the Role As the Engineering Team Lead at Mumbai , you will play a pivotal role in leading our engineering team, driving project execution, and building scalable technology products that power our business. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance technical decision-making, project delivery, and people management while ensuring engineering initiatives are delivered on time with high quality. You will lead the development and maintenance of IIDE’s technology ecosystem, including the Learning Management System (LMS), Student & Admin Portals, public websites, backend services, APIs, internal tools, and third-party integrations , while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing technology solutions. What You'll Do Engineering Leadership Lead, mentor, and manage a team of frontend and backend developers. Drive engineering best practices, coding standards, and development processes. Review architecture, technical designs, and code to ensure scalability, maintainability, and quality. Guide the team in building secure, reliable, and high-performing applications. Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Project & Delivery Management Own end-to-end delivery of multiple engineering projects. Translate business requirements into technical execution plans. Estimate effort, allocate resources, and manage project timelines. Track project progress, identify risks, and proactively resolve blockers. Coordinate production deployments and release management. Ensure timely project delivery without compromising quality. Technology Ownership Own engineering delivery across: Learning Management System (LMS) Student Portals Public Websites Internal Business Applications Backend Services & APIs Third-party Integrations Future technology initiatives Team Management Conduct sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and regular team reviews. Mentor developers through coaching, feedback, and technical guidance. Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management. Create individual development plans and encourage continuous learning. Promote knowledge sharing across the engineering team. Cross-functional Collaboration Partner with Product, Design, Marketing, CRM, Operations, and Business teams. Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Communicate project timelines, technical trade-offs, and delivery risks effectively. Align engineering priorities with overall business objectives. Engineering Excellence Ensure applications meet high standards of performance, security, maintainability, and reliability. Own production incident management and root cause analysis. Improve engineering processes, documentation, deployment, and release practices. Drive automation to improve engineering efficiency. Continuously reduce technical debt and improve system scalability. Technical SEO & Performance Ensure all public-facing applications follow modern Technical SEO best practices. Improve Core Web Vitals, application performance, and user experience. Collaborate with Marketing and SEO teams to implement technical SEO recommendations. Optimize applications for crawlability, indexing, and search engine performance. Additional Duties Support future technology initiatives and platform enhancements. Contribute to strategic engineering decisions and long-term technology planning. Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by management, aligned with the broad scope of the position. Who You Are Must-Have Minimum 4 years of software development experience. 1–2 years of experience leading projects or mentoring engineering teams. Strong experience with: React.js Next.js JavaScript HTML & CSS Tailwind CSS Node.js REST APIs Git & GitHub Strong understanding of software architecture and system design. Proven experience managing multiple concurrent engineering projects. Excellent project planning, execution, and stakeholder management skills. Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities. Ownership-driven mindset with a focus on engineering excellence. Should Have Good understanding of: MongoDB PostgreSQL Database Design API Development & Integrations Authentication & Authorization CI/CD concepts Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or DigitalOcean) Working knowledge of: Java Microservices Architecture Docker & Containerization Web Security Best Practices Performance Optimization Caching Strategies AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and sprint-based development. Ability to balance business priorities with engineering quality. Nice to Have Hands-on expertise in Technical SEO, including: Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) Page Speed Optimization Server-Side Rendering (SSR) Static Site Generation (SSG) Structured Data (Schema Markup) Metadata Management XML Sitemaps Robots.txt Canonical Tags Redirect Management Crawlability & Indexability JavaScript SEO Google Search Console Lighthouse Audits Image Optimization Lazy Loading Experience in EdTech, SaaS, product-based companies, or high-growth startups.
