As a Database Engineer at Illumina, you will play a crucial role in improving human health by leveraging the power of the genome. Your responsibilities will include: - Managing highly available and resilient database infrastructure on on-premises and cloud platforms, preferably AWS - Providing expertise in administration, configuration, optimization, and monitoring of database servers at scale - Collaborating with partner support teams to address production issues with high urgency - Conducting root cause analysis, implementing automated proactive measures, and monitoring their effectiveness - Supporting multiple CI/CD database releases and deployments, as well as development teams for enhancements and issue resolution - Ensuring security and regulatory compliance procedures are followed and enforcing them - Developing, managing, and testing database backup and recovery plans, as well as performing preventive maintenance and annual DR exercises Qualifications required for this role: - 3+ years of experience in database administration supporting MS SQL Server (knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB is a plus) - Mandatory knowledge of SQL programming - Experience with compliance and security controls for database systems - Expertise in troubleshooting database server issues and performance - Familiarity with cloud database platforms, particularly AWS - Understanding of DBMS/Warehouse concepts and technologies - 3+ years of expertise with Windows and SQL Server platforms (Linux experience is a plus) - Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or a related technical discipline - Microsoft SQL Server Certification is preferred At Illumina, you will have the opportunity to be part of a global mission to expand access to genomic technology and improve health equity for billions of people.
