Production Engineer Department: Production / Manufacturing Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Operations Head Experience Level: 2-5 years (Mid-level) Job Purpose The Production Engineer is responsible for overseeing daily shift operations on the manufacturing floor. This role ensures that production targets are met on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between planning and execution, troubleshooting machine issues, and optimizing workforce utilization. Key Responsibilities 1. Shift Execution & Target Achievement Daily Production Plans: Execute the shift-wise production schedule provided by the planning department to ensure maximum output. Manpower Allocation: Allocate operators, helpers, and technicians to specific assembly lines or machine stations (such as CNC, VMC, or Press shops) based on skill matrices. Shift Handover: Conduct clear shift handovers, documenting daily output numbers, raw material consumption, and outstanding technical issues. 2. Process Optimization & Troubleshooting Line Balancing: Monitor assembly or machining lines to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce cycle times, and improve overall line efficiency. First-Line Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve minor mechanical, electrical, or process defects immediately to minimize downtime. Coordinate with the Maintenance team for major breakdowns. Setup & Changeover Management: Oversee tool or die changeovers on machines, ensuring compliance with SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) techniques to reduce idle time. 3. Quality & Material Control In-Process Quality: Collaborate with QA/QC inspectors to ensure that products meet structural and visual guidelines. Enforce standard operational steps to avoid re-work. Rejection Analysis: Track daily shop floor rejection and scrap rates. Participate in root cause analysis (using 5-Why or Fishbone methods) to minimize material waste. WIP Management: Monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) material levels to keep the floor organized and ensure a smooth material flow. 4. Safety & Shop Floor Discipline 5S Implementation: Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organization, and safety cleanliness on the shop floor using 5S principles. PPE Enforcements: Ensure 100% compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines by all operators and contract staff. Experience 1 - 4 Years Salary 2 Lac To 4 Lac P.A.
