Experience : Overall 10 to 15 yearsRole Summary : As an Associate Database Architect, the person will be responsible for defining, designing, and governing end-to-end database architecture with a strong focus on GCP AlloyDB PostgreSQL. This role demands deep expertise in distributed PostgreSQL systems, performance engineering, ensuring highly scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions aligned with business and enterprise standards. The architect will act as a technical authority, driving database modernization, cloud migration, and database optimization for high throughput, low latency, and high availability systems deployed across multiple regions.Key Responsibilities : Database Engineer & Data Architecture : - Design, enhance, and maintain multi-region AlloyDB PostgreSQL clusters on GCP- Architect for high availability, failover, and cross-region replication- Optimize read/write distribution, latency, and throughput across regions- Perform deep AlloyDB/PostgreSQL performance tuning- Able to review most optimized Postgres code- Diagnose complex production issues and provide solutions for problems like : 1. Idle transactions2. Long-running queries3. Sub-transaction overhead and lock contention4. Slow stored procedure execution- Analyze and optimize queries using EXPLAIN / ANALYZE- Fine-tune PostgreSQL/AlloyDB parameters for : 1. Parallel query execution2. CPU and memory utilization3. High concurrency workloads4. VACUUM and AUTOVACUUM internals- Drive data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) and schema governance- Define indexing strategies and query optimization standards- Own backup, DR, retention, and database security strategies- Lead database migration and modernization (on-prem to cloud, legacy to modern DBs)- Have good knowledge in pre-identifying DB critical stagesGovernance & Technical Leadership : - Conduct database architecture reviews and design walkthroughs- Mentor team of database developers- Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and security teams- Support estimations and technical solutioning for databases when requiredRequired Technical Skills : Databases : - AlloyDB PostgreSQL (deep internals)- Writing high throughput queries and SPs- Other RDBMS : Oracle- Experience with large data volumes, OLTP/OLAP, and high-throughput systems- Strong expertise in debugging, data modeling and performance engineeringSecurity & Reliability : - Secure design principles, IAM, encryption, auditing, compliance for Alloy DB PostgreSQL- Observability : logging, monitoring, tracing for Alloy DB PostgreSQL database- DR, resilience, and fault-tolerant design for Alloy DB PostgreSQLGood to Have : - Experience with data platforms : BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, Snowflake- NoSQL : MongoDB- Exposure to ETL and streaming architectures- Experience in regulated environments (finance, data-privacy heavy systems)- GCP Professional Cloud Database EngineerSoft Skills : - Strong stakeholder communication and technical storytelling- Decision-making with clear trade-off analysis- Mentoring and technical leadership (ref:hirist.tech) Experience : Overall 10 to 15 yearsRole Summary : As an Associate Database Architect, the person will be responsible for defining, designing, and governing end-to-end database architecture with a strong focus on GCP AlloyDB PostgreSQL.
