About the role
As a Defect Metrology Application Engineer at Applied Materials, you will be part of the process diagnostics and control (PDC) group, focusing on advanced imaging and cutting-edge image processing algorithms to detect, measure, and classify nanometer size defects in semiconductor fabrication process steps. Your key responsibilities will include: - Maximizing the performance of current defect metrology products by deeply understanding use-cases in collaboration with leading-edge chip manufacturing customers. - Contributing to the product development roadmap through spec definition and performance validation at a higher expertise level. To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications: - Sound fundamentals of high-NA DUV imaging/SEM and light-matter/electron-matter interaction. - Openness to 70% travel to leading semiconductor chip manufacturing fabs overseas. - Hands-on experience in semiconductor fabrication with layer-wise detailed knowledge of material, process tech, and defectivity. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with attention to detail. - Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently. Additionally, you will demonstrate expanded conceptual knowledge in your discipline, understand key business drivers to accomplish your work, and provide informal guidance to new team members without formal supervisory responsibilities. Your problem-solving skills will be crucial in analyzing solutions using technical experience and judgment, impacting the quality of your work and that of the team.
