About the program The Indian Army Internship Program (IAIP) is a 75-day nationwide internship initiative that provides students from across India with the opportunity to work on live military applications and gain hands-on exposure under mentorship of military experts. Open to students from diverse academic backgrounds the program offers internships across cutting-edge domains, including Cybersecurity & Ethical Hacking, Drone & Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Quantum Computing & Cryptography, Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML), Robotics & Autonomous Systems, Space & Satellite Technologies, Advanced Weapon Systems & Defence Electronics, 5G/6G & Communication Technologies, Financial Technologies (FinTech), Mass Communication & Mass Media and many more enabling participants to develop future-ready skills while contributing to innovative, technology-driven initiatives. Description of the Project The selected resources will contribute to the design, development and deployment of a secure enterprise search engine for an air-gapped network using Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and related technologies. The solution will enable indexing, extraction, classification, and intelligent searching of structured and unstructured data, including documents, PDFs, scanned files, web content, and enterprise records. The resources will work on data ingestion pipelines, index design, relevance tuning, metadata extraction, full-text search, fuzzy search, semantic search, vector search, role-based access control, analytics dashboards, and system performance optimization. They will also integrate AI/ML capabilities such as document classification, text embeddings, natural language processing, optical character recognition, query understanding, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation, wherever required. The resources must be capable of deploying and maintaining the complete solution in a restricted, offline, air-gapped environment without dependency on public cloud services or external internet connectivity. The role requires strong proficiency in Elastic Stack, Python, AI/ML, Linux administration, REST APIs, secure software development, troubleshooting, testing, technical documentation, and enterprise application deployment. Desired Attributes Strong knowledge of Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats, Elastic Agent, and Elastic Stack architecture. Understanding of full-text search, exact search, fuzzy search, faceted search, relevance scoring, aggregations, and query optimization. Experience in developing enterprise search solutions for structured and unstructured data. Proficiency in Python amp .NET Core framework Knowledge of AI/ML, Natural Language Processing, text embeddings, semantic search, vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation. Familiarity with OCR technologies and extraction of text from scanned documents and images. Knowledge of Apache Tika or similar content and metadata extraction tools. Understanding of Elasticsearch cluster configuration, node roles, shards, replicas, snapshots, backup, and recovery Key Respo nsibilities Understand and analyse enterprise search requirements for an air- gapped network. Design the overall architecture of the enterprise search engine. Install, configure, and maintain Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and related components. Documentation Requirements All selected candidates are required to bring the following documents in original along with photocopies on the day of joining: (a) Current Degree Verification Certificate issued by the Registrar or Head of the Department of your academic institution (for students). (b) Police Verification Certificate issued by the relevant local authority. (c) Government-issued ID proof such as Aadhaar Card, Driving License etc. (d) Sufficient number of recent passport-size photographs. Incomplete documentation may lead to disqualification from the internship. 2. Dress Code A strict formal dress code shall be observed: (a) Male Candidates: Formal shirts, trousers and formal footwear. (b) Female Candidates: Indian suits or western formal attire. 3. Working Hours Interns are expected to adhere strictly to the prescribed working hours and maintain professional discipline. (a) Timings: 9:30 AM To 5:30 PM 4. Code of Conduct (a) Smartphones and laptops are not permitted within the office premises. These may be deposited at the security gate upon entry. Permission for the smart devices, if required for the internship, will be processed in case-to-case basis (to be intimated during the selection process). (b) Only non-smartphones are permitted within the office complex. (c) Dedicated workstations with stable internet access will be provided by the organization to facilitate your work. (d) All interns are expected to respect data confidentiality, information security policies and all organizational conduct protocols. 5. Application A student can apply for multiple Indian Army internship opportunities, but a student can accept only one internship offer letter. Before accepting an offer letter, ensure it is the opportunity that best matches students skills, interests and career aspirations. 6. Stipend The stipend (up to Rs.75,000) will be disbursed upon the successful completion of the internship and fulfillment of all program requirements. The final stipend amount will be based on the intern's overall attendance during the internship period. Intern having less than 75% attendance will not be eligible for any stipend. 7. Placements No placement assistance or employment opportunities will be provided by the Indian Army during or following the internship. 8. Accommodation No accommodation will be provided by the organization.
