About the role
About the program The Indian Army Internship Program (IAIP) is a 75-day nationwide internship initiative that provides students from across India with the opportunity to work on live military applications and gain hands-on exposure under mentorship of military experts. Open to students from diverse academic backgrounds the program offers internships across cutting-edge domains, including Cybersecurity & Ethical Hacking, Drone & Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Quantum Computing & Cryptography, Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML), Robotics & Autonomous Systems, Space & Satellite Technologies, Advanced Weapon Systems & Defence Electronics, 5G/6G & Communication Technologies, Financial Technologies (FinTech), Mass Communication & Mass Media and many more enabling participants to develop future-ready skills while contributing to innovative, technology-driven initiatives. Description of the Project Final year student eligible for internship Minimum CGPA of 7.5 on a 10-point scale. Based in Delhi NCR and available for physical attendance at DIAV. Essential Skills. Strong programming proficiency in Python. Working knowledge of the applied AI stack: Retrieval Augmented Generation pipelines, embeddings and vector databases (LangChain or LlamaIndex, ChromaDB or FAISS) and prompt engineering. Document processing and text extraction workflows (PDF parsing, OCR) for preparation of a policy corpus. Data handling and schema design: structured data modelling, SQL and dataset cleaning with pandas, with the ability to draft field level data schemas for requisition from data custodians. Web development fundamentals: HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with the ability to build and maintain single page informational websites compatible with mobile browsers. Dashboard and visualisation development using Streamlit, Power BI, Plotly or equivalent. Version control with Git and systematic documentation of work. Desirable Skills. Exposure to fine tuning of language models (LoRA or PEFT) and design of evaluation sets. Familiarity with Indic language NLP resources (AI4Bharat models, BHASHINI APIs). Frontend framework experience (React or equivalent) and responsive design. Experience running open-source language models locally (Ollama or similar). Aptitude and Conduct. Ability to work independently on loosely specified problems under supervision. Willingness to execute a non-disclosure undertaking, with police verification or character certificate as required. Documentation Requirements All selected candidates are required to bring the following documents in original along with photocopies on the day of joining: (a) Current Degree Verification Certificate issued by the Registrar or Head of the Department of your academic institution (for students). (b) Police Verification Certificate issued by the relevant local authority. (c) Government-issued ID proof such as Aadhaar Card, Driving License etc. (d) Sufficient number of recent passport-size photographs. Incomplete documentation may lead to disqualification from the internship. 2. Dress Code A strict formal dress code shall be observed: (a) Male Candidates: Formal shirts, trousers and formal footwear. (b) Female Candidates: Indian suits or western formal attire. 3. Working Hours Interns are expected to adhere strictly to the prescribed working hours and maintain professional discipline. (a) Timings: 9:00 AM To 5:00 PM (b) Working Days: Monday to Saturday 4. Code of Conduct (a) Smartphones and laptops are not permitted within the office premises. These may be deposited at the security gate upon entry. (b) Only non-smartphones are permitted within the office complex. (c) Dedicated workstations with stable internet access will be provided by the organization to facilitate your work. (d) All interns are expected to respect data confidentiality, information security policies and all organizational conduct protocols. 5. Make your application count. 6. Stipend The stipend (up to Rs.75,000) will be disbursed upon the successful completion of the internship and fulfillment of all program requirements. The final stipend amount will be based on the intern's overall attendance during the internship period. Intern having less than 75% attendance will not be eligible for any stipend. 7. Accommodation No accommodation will be provided by the organization. Candidates are required to make their own arrangements before the commencement of the internship.
