Sr. Fullstack Engineer – 100% Remote (EST Hours) – Contract to Hire

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop new features for a robust, event-driven IoT platform supporting real-time telemetry from distributed assets (bulldozers, heavy machinery, etc.).

• Write high-quality, efficient, scalable, and reusable code using Node.js (Hapi.js/Express.js) on the backend and React with micro-frontend architecture on the frontend.

• Tackle system scalability, performance optimization, API design, and latency issues within a large-scale, distributed environment.

• Own the reliability of your code by writing comprehensive unit tests and supporting rigorous QA processes.

• Mentor and coach fellow engineers, providing technical leadership and contributing to architectural decisions.

• Collaborate with product managers and senior leadership to define, scope, and plan innovative new features and long-term product direction.

• Work cross-functionally with agile teams to deliver user-centric solutions and improve development processes.

• Document solutions thoroughly for maintainability and knowledge sharing.

• Required Skills and Experience

• 8+ years professional development experience as a Full Stack Engineer building complex, large-scale platforms.

• Deep hands-on expertise in JavaScript, Node.js (Hapi.js/Express.js), and React (including micro-frontend architecture).

• Proven experience designing and maintaining microservices-based architectures and robust SQL database solutions.

• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical and business problems across diverse software architectures.

• Experience building real-time event processing platforms and optimizing for system scalability, API performance, and latency reduction.

• Strong understanding of backend architecture and system tradeoffs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

• Engineers with C#, .NET, or Python backgrounds are welcome if eager to transition into a JavaScript/Node.js-centric stack.

• Preferred Skills

• NoSQL databases

• Docker/containerized deployments

• Experience with large-scale data systems

• Message queueing (RabbitMQ)

• AWS ecosystem (EC2, S3, VPC, Elasticsearch, Kinesis)

• IoT platform experience
