Lead Java Developer – API & Cloud Solutions | Columbus, OH (Contract to Hire)

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of secure, scalable Java APIs using Spring Boot on cloud platforms (GCP preferred)

• Define, implement, and enforce coding standards, code reviews, and development best practices

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Mentor and guide junior developers, promoting knowledge sharing and technical excellence

• Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud deployment strategies

• Ensure optimal application performance, security, and scalability in cloud environments

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing hands-on support

• Monitor system health, optimize resources, and manage cloud-related costs

• Stay on the leading edge of emerging technologies, recommending architectural and process improvements

• Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 10+ years’ experience in Java backend/API development

• Deep expertise with RESTful API and SOA development using Java and Spring technologies

• Experience with API (REST & SOAP) and cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure considered)

• Strong track record in technical leadership and mentoring developers

• Proficient in CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

• Preferred Skills

• Cloud certifications (GCP, AWS, or Azure)

• Experience with microservices and cloud-native architecture

• Background in Banking and Payments domains

• Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies
