IT Developer (Contract) – Application Modernization | 100% Remote (U.S. Only)

About the Role

Join a leading financial services organization as a mid-level IT Developer, driving a high-impact application modernization project. You will play a critical role in migrating legacy LUW database applications to SQL Server, modernizing architecture, interfaces, and APIs. This is a fully remote, 6-month contract (with strong extension potential), offering collaboration with cross-functional Agile teams and the opportunity to shape the future of enterprise technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization and migration of legacy applications from LUW databases to SQL Server

• Design and define robust database schemas and table structures in partnership with DBA teams

• Develop and enhance Java-based applications using Spring Boot

• Modernize front-end user interfaces with Angular or similar frameworks

• Build and update APIs to support scalable, modern application ecosystems

• Collaborate with database, cloud infrastructure, project management, and technical leads

• Evaluate technical solutions independently and drive decisions with minimal oversight

• Contribute expertise to additional modernization projects as the pipeline expands

• Required Skills and Experience

• 4+ years of Java development experience

• Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot

• 4+ years of SQL Server experience, including schema and data structure design

• Front-end development proficiency (Angular preferred, other web frameworks considered)

• Ability to work independently and proactively engage diverse technical teams

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Preferred Skills

• Exposure to LUW legacy databases and migration projects

• Prior application modernization experience

• Familiarity with cloud-enabled environments
