Senior Software Engineer (Remote) – Gartner

About the Role

Join Gartner’s Innovation Tools team as a Senior Software Engineer and help build innovative, high-impact growth tools that empower clients to solve their most critical priorities. As a key member of a dynamic, remote team, you’ll be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise data solutions at scale, leveraging the latest open-source and cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver modern, scalable backend solutions for Gartner’s next-gen products

• Develop and optimize robust data pipelines using Apache Spark, Databricks, EMR, and Python

• Provision and monitor cloud clusters, ensuring seamless automation and continuous integration

• Implement coding standards, unit/integration tests, and deployment scripts to support CI/CD best practices

• Drive high performance, security, and cost optimization across platforms

• Collaborate in a fast-paced, innovative environment with passionate engineers

• Support the full development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and ongoing optimization

• Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field

• 4–7 years’ experience building web applications or customer-facing products

• Advanced expertise in Apache Spark, Databricks, EMR, Python

• Proficiency in AWS services: S3, Lambda, EMR serverless, Step Functions

• Experience developing data engineering pipelines and monitoring AWS clusters

• Familiarity with GitOps, DevOps, and CI/CD environments

• Exposure to relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Elastic Search, or MongoDB

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

• Preferred Skills

• Experience with machine learning algorithm development

• Proficiency with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions
