About the role
As a Snowflake Administrator, your role will involve administering Snowflake environments to ensure optimal performance and security. Your key responsibilities will include: - Administering Snowflake environments by managing databases, schemas, warehouses, roles, and users. - Implementing and managing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and security best practices. - Monitoring platform usage, performance, and costs using Snowflake tools. - Managing Time Travel, cloning, backup, and recovery strategies. In addition, you will be responsible for performance tuning and optimization by: - Analyzing and optimizing SQL queries using Query Profile. - Tuning warehouse sizing, auto-suspend/resume, and multi-cluster configurations. - Optimizing data access using micro-partition pruning, clustering keys, and caching. - Troubleshooting concurrency issues, query queuing, and resource contention. - Implementing cost optimization strategies and resource monitors. Furthermore, you will lead data migration efforts by: - Executing data warehouse migrations from various platforms to Snowflake. - Performing schema, data type, and code conversions. - Migrating ETL/ELT pipelines and workloads to Snowflake's ELT architecture. - Validating migrated data using row counts, checksums, and reconciliation reports. - Supporting cutover planning, testing, and post-migration performance tuning. Your role will also involve ensuring security and governance by: - Implementing data masking, row-level security, and network policies. - Ensuring compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements. - Defining object lifecycle management and data retention policies.
