Software Development Engineer - Test

Role Overview: As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will be responsible for designing, architecting, and enhancing scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks for both UI and API layers. You will play a crucial role in executing test automation scripts, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines, defining test strategies, and mentoring junior QA engineers. Key Responsibilities: - Design, architect, and enhance scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks from scratch for both UI and API layers. - Author, review, and maintain highly reliable automation scripts using Selenium with Java or Python. - Architect and execute comprehensive API automation suites ensuring high test coverage, performance, and data validation across microservices. - Integrate automated test suites into continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to support a seamless DevOps lifecycle. - Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA peers to identify automation candidates, define test strategies, and minimize manual testing overhead. - Debug complex automation failures, isolate root causes, log detailed defects, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure swift resolution. - Establish coding standards for automation scripts, conduct code reviews for test code, and mentor junior QA engineers. Qualification Required: - Core Experience: You should have 6+ years of solid experience working as an SDET with a primary focus on automation engineering. - Programming Languages: Advanced proficiency in Java or Python is required for writing clean, reusable, object-oriented code. - UI Automation: Extensive hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver is essential. Experience with Page Object Model (POM) or BDD frameworks (Cucumber/Behave) is highly preferred. - API Automation Tools: Strong expertise in automating RESTful APIs using tools/libraries such as RestAssured, Postman, Requests (Python), or similar frameworks. - Database & Tools: Solid understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases for test data validation and experience with version control systems like Git is necessary. - Build/CI Tools: Familiarity with build tools (Maven, Gradle) and CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions) will be beneficial for this role.
