Product Engineer II Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Product Engineer II to join our product development team. This role combines strong software engineering capabilities with product and business analysis skills. The ideal candidate is a developer who can work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, and stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify solution options, break down complex initiatives into user stories, and deliver high-quality software solutions. The Product Engineer II is expected to contribute throughout the product lifecyclefrom requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and support. The role requires adaptability across multiple technologies including PHP, C#, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript, and MultiValue BASIC. Healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with experience supporting healthcare providers, payers, revenue cycle management organizations, EHR integrations, healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, X12), or healthcare data exchange solutions will be given strong consideration. Key Responsibilities Requirements Analysis & Solution Design Analyze business and functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and identify gaps, risks, and dependencies. Evaluate and recommend design approaches, architecture patterns, and implementation options. Participate in solution design discussions and contribute technical recommendations based on business needs and technical constraints. Assist in defining acceptance criteria and ensuring requirements are sufficiently detailed for development. Agile Planning & User Story Development Break down epics and complex requirements into manageable user stories and development tasks. Estimate effort and participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release planning activities. Identify technical dependencies and help prioritize development work. Contribute to the continuous improvement of development and delivery processes. Software Development Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and reliable software applications. Develop solutions using one or more of the following technologies: PHP C# SQL HTML/CSS JavaScript TypeScript MultiValue BASIC Create and maintain APIs, integrations, and backend services as required. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established standards and best practices. Problem Solving & Technical Leadership Investigate and resolve complex technical issues and production defects. Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members. Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices. Database & Data Management Design and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and data structures. Work with relational and non-relational databases to ensure performance, scalability, and data integrity. Support data integration and migration efforts when necessary. Collaboration & Quality Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle. Participate in testing activities, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing support. Contribute to CI/CD, deployment, and operational support processes. Ensure solutions meet performance, security, and quality standards. Required Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand and decompose complex business requirements. Experience translating business needs into technical designs and actionable user stories. Proficiency in one or more of the following technologies: PHP C# SQL JavaScript TypeScript MultiValue BASIC Experience developing web applications, APIs, integrations, or enterprise software solutions. Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, and application architecture. Experience with relational databases and SQL optimization. Familiarity with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing software solutions within healthcare, health information technology, revenue cycle management, payer, provider, or related healthcare environments. Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and integrations, including: HL7 FHIR X12 APIs and healthcare data exchange frameworks Experience integrating with or supporting Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Meditech, or similar systems. Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI, or AI-powered development tools to improve products, workflows, or engineering productivity. Experience developing or supporting Python-based services and APIs. Familiarity with microservices architectures, containerization, and distributed application design. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 35 years of software development experience. Demonstrated experience participating in requirements analysis, solution design, and Agile delivery processes. Experience working directly with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
