About the role
Role Overview: You are a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator responsible for driving on-site Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) compliance across all construction activities in Ahmedabad. Your role involves conducting daily safety inspections, issuing permits, investigating incidents, and ensuring safety compliance through monitoring and reporting. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct daily safety inspections and audits across all active work areas, including high-risk activities like working at height, excavation, hot work, and crane operations. - Issue and track Permits to Work (PTWs), ensuring validity, visibility, and proper closure. - Investigate near-misses, unsafe acts, and incidents, document root causes, and coordinate corrective actions to closure. - Brief contractors and labor on site safety requirements, method statements, and emergency procedures. - Maintain safety registers including inductions, PPE distribution, toolbox talks, and accident records. - Log daily safety inspection outcomes, PTW statuses, and corrective action deadlines in the project management system. - Monitor and escalate unresolved overdue corrective actions and high-risk scheduled activities to the Safety Manager. - Ensure safety compliance dashboards reflect the current site status for internal and client review. - Generate regular safety compliance reports for internal governance and client-facing updates. - Support PPE compliance monitoring and access control records, including coordination with automated safety monitoring tools deployed on site. - Ensure on-site safety practices comply with relevant safety regulations and maintain liaison with local statutory bodies. - Prepare documentation for safety inspections, approvals, client audits, and insurance reviews. - Assist in developing and updating site-specific safety plans, emergency response procedures, and HSE training materials. Qualifications: - 25 years of on-site construction safety experience with a developer, PMC, or main contractor. - Diploma or degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or Civil Engineering. - HSE or equivalent certification preferred. - Sound knowledge of construction safety regulations, PTW systems, and risk assessment methodologies. - Experience with digital safety management or incident reporting tools. - Strong communication skills with the ability to influence safety behavior across diverse contractor workforces.
