MEP Design Coordinator

The role is intended for a Design Coordinator with 5 6 years of overall experience, preferably with a strong background in Electrical Design Engineering and approximately 5 years of experience as a Senior Engineer Electrical. The candidate should possess sound knowledge in electrical design, multidisciplinary coordination, and site execution practices. Additionally, the objective of this initiative is to support the organization s marketing and business development efforts in the Coimbatore region. The proposed team at Coimbatore will also provide operational and project execution support to the BU-01 team, enabling better regional project management and client coordination. The purpose of this position is to support the establishment and management of projects for the Coimbatore branch, ensuring effective coordination between design teams, site teams, and clients. The role requires both technical design expertise and practical site knowledge to facilitate smooth project execution, timely delivery, and quality compliance. Project Coordination and Management: Coordinate all design activities for projects executed, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements. MEP Design Review and Technical Support: Review and support the preparation of MEP design deliverables, including load calculations, layouts, BOQs, technical specifications, and tender documents, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and client requirements. Multidisciplinary Coordination: Facilitate coordination among Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, ELV, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and clash-free design solutions. Site Visits and Execution Support: Visit project sites regularly to monitor progress, resolve design-related issues, coordinate with contractors and clients, and ensure that the design intent is implemented correctly. Client and Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams for design coordination, technical discussions, and progress updates. Resource Planning and Team Management: Allocate work to design engineers and draftsmen, monitor progress, and ensure effective utilization of resources to meet project milestones. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure that all deliverables undergo proper quality checks and comply with company standards, statutory codes, and project specifications. Project Monitoring and Reporting: Track project status, identify risks or delays, and provide regular progress reports to management with recommendations for corrective actions. Estimation, Planning, and Productivity Monitoring: Support project estimation and planning activities, including review of planned hours, monitoring actual performance, and improving productivity. Business Development and Branch Support: Support the organization's marketing and business development initiatives in the Coimbatore region by assisting in project coordination, client engagement, and strengthening local project execution capabilities. The Coimbatore team will also support the BU-01 team in project execution, coordination, and operational activities from the regional office. Qualification: Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements Educational Qualification: Bachelor s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (B.E./B.Tech Electrical). Additional certifications in project management, electrical design software, or construction management will be an added advantage. Overall Experience: Minimum 5 to 6 years of total experience in MEP design and project coordination, with a strong focus on electrical systems. Relevant Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Senior Engineer Electrical or in a similar role involving electrical design, multidisciplinary coordination, and project management. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical system design, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, ELV coordination, and preparation of BOQs and technical specifications. Familiarity with MEP coordination and understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and ELV systems. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and preferably Revit MEP and electrical design tools such as DIALux or ETAP. Site and Execution Knowledge: Practical experience in site visits, construction coordination, resolving design issues during execution, and ensuring compliance with approved drawings and specifications. Business Development and Branch Support: Support the organization s marketing and business development initiatives in the Coimbatore region by assisting in project coordination, client engagement, and strengthening local project execution capabilities. Coordination and Communication Skills: Strong project coordination, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage teams and coordinate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal departments. Skills: Strong knowledge of MEP. Ability to prepare and review layouts, single line diagrams (SLD), BOQs, and technical specifications. Working knowledge of MEP coordination with HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and ELV systems. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and electrical design tools like DIALux.
