Position Overview VMware Practice Lead - Job Description We are seeking an experienced VMware Practice Lead to establish and drive our new VMware Services practice. This strategic role combines deep technical expertise with business acumen to help enterprise customers navigate the evolving VMware landscape post-Broadcom acquisition. You'll be responsible for building practice capabilities, leading customer engagements, and developing a high-performing team while driving significant business value for our clients. Key Responsibilities Practice Development & Strategy Build from Ground Up: Establish InOpTra's VMware practice including service offerings, methodologies, and go-to-market strategies Market Positioning: Position InOpTra as the trusted partner for VMware transformations, migrations, and cost optimization initiatives Service Portfolio Development: Define comprehensive VMware services including migration assessments, cloud repatriation, hyperscaler migrations, and ongoing optimization Revenue Growth: Drive practice revenue targets and establish sustainable growth trajectory Technical Leadership & Customer Engagement Migration Expertise: Lead complex VMware to cloud migrations (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-to-VMware repatriation projects Architecture & Design: Provide technical leadership on hybrid cloud architectures, disaster recovery solutions, and infrastructure optimization Customer Advisory: Serve as trusted technical advisor to C-level executives and IT leaders on VMware strategy and roadmap decisions Proof of Concepts: Design and execute technical demonstrations and POCs to showcase InOpTra's capabilities Business Development & Sales Support Customer Acquisition: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within enterprise accounts Proposal Development: Lead technical proposal writing and solution architecture for RFPs and client engagements Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key customer stakeholders, vendors, and technology partners Business Case Development: Translate technical solutions into compelling business value propositions focusing on cost savings, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency Team Building & Leadership Talent Acquisition: Recruit, hire, and onboard VMware specialists, cloud architects, and migration engineers Team Development: Mentor team members, establish career development paths, and build technical competencies Practice Culture: Foster a collaborative, innovative culture aligned with InOpTra's core values Knowledge Management: Establish best practices, methodologies, and intellectual property for the practice Required Qualifications Technical Expertise VMware Mastery: 8+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, and related technologies Cloud Platforms: Deep expertise in at least two major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with migration experience Migration Tools: Proficiency with VMware Cloud Foundation, HCX, CloudHealth, Turbonomic, and third-party migration tools Infrastructure Technologies: Strong background in networking, storage, security, and data center operations Automation: Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), configuration management, and DevOps practices Business & Leadership Skills Practice Development: Proven track record of building and scaling technology practices or service lines P&L Management: Experience managing practice financials, budgets, and profitability metrics Team Leadership: 5+ years of experience leading technical teams, with demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and retain talent Customer Relationship Management: Strong history of building C-level relationships and driving large-scale technology initiatives Communication & Industry Knowledge Executive Presence: Ability to present to and influence senior executives and technical leaders Business Acumen: Understanding of enterprise IT economics, total cost of ownership, and business impact analysis Market Awareness: Deep knowledge of VMware licensing changes, Broadcom impact, and competitive landscape Thought Leadership: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts in business terms and provide strategic guidance Preferred Qualifications Certifications VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher Major cloud platform certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect) ITIL, PMP, or similar project management certifications Industry & Consulting Experience Enterprise Consulting Background: 3+ years with tier-1 systems integrators, VMware partners, or consulting firms delivering VMware services Vertical Industry Expertise: Deep experience in regulated industries (Financial Services, Healthcare, Government) with VMware compliance requirements Broadcom Impact Understanding: Demonstrated experience helping customers navigate VMware licensing changes and cost implications post-Broadcom acquisition Partner Ecosystem: Established relationships with VMware, hyperscaler vendors, and key technology partners in the VMware ecosystem US Enterprise Market: Proven track record working with Fortune 1000 customers in North American market Specialized Skills Kubernetes and container orchestration experience Disaster recovery and business continuity planning Hybrid cloud architecture and multi-cloud strategies Cost optimization and FinOps methodologies
