The ideal candidate will focus on rewriting and enhancing existing code rather than designing new applications. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with DBAs to implement their recommendations for code improvements. Key Responsibilities: Code Rewriting and Enhancement:Analyze and rewrite existing RPG code to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.Enhance legacy code to meet current standards and best practices. SQL Proficiency:Utilize SQL to optimize database interactions and ensure efficient data retrieval and manipulation.Work with complex queries and stored procedures to support application requirements. Collaboration with DBAs:Implement code changes and fixes based on detailed recommendations from Database Administrators.Collaborate closely with DBAs to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and other issues. Code Maintenance:Conduct thorough testing of modified code to ensure functionality and performance.Document changes and enhancements clearly and comprehensively. Technical Support:Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing RPG applications.Assist in resolving issues related to database interactions and application performance. Qualifications: Technical Skills:Strong proficiency in RPG programming (any version).Highly skilled in SQL, with experience in optimizing queries and working with large datasets. Experience:Proven experience in rewriting and enhancing legacy RPG code.Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization. Soft Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an environment with close DBA collaboration. Familiarity with modern coding standards and best practices in RPG and SQL.
