DB2 DBA (IBM Db2 for z/OS)

As an IBM Db2 for z/OS Database Administrator, your role will involve administering, maintaining, and optimizing IBM Db2 for z/OS databases. You will be responsible for performance tuning using tools such as EXPLAIN, SQL analysis, catalog reviews, MainView, and Query Monitor. Your tasks will also include managing backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions, as well as troubleshooting database, SQL, locking, catalog, and performance issues. Key Responsibilities: - Administer, maintain, and optimize IBM Db2 for z/OS databases - Perform performance tuning using EXPLAIN, SQL analysis, catalog reviews, MainView, and Query Monitor - Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions - Troubleshoot database, SQL, locking, catalog, and performance issues - Implement database security, access controls, authentication, and auditing - Design schemas, indexing strategies, normalization, and capacity planning - Support production, test, and development environments - Collaborate with application teams and provide technical guidance - Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation Qualifications Required: - Strong hands-on experience with IBM Db2 for z/OS administration - Expertise in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting - Knowledge of RACF, ACF2, Top Secret, database security, and auditing - Experience with EXPLAIN plans, catalog analysis, MainView, and Query Monitor - Strong database design, modeling, and capacity planning skills - Experience supporting high-volume, highly available transactional systems - Strong communication and problem-solving abilities Additional Details: - Preferred Skills include Very Large Tables (VLTs) management, IBM Q Replication (Db2z Db2z), Db2 Data Sharing and Sysplex environments, Db2 Connect and distributed access, and BMC tools (Catalog Manager, Utilities, MainView) - Location: Bangalore / Hyderabad - Work Mode: Hybrid Please note that as an IBM Db2 for z/OS Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and security of the databases while supporting the overall performance of the systems.
