About the role
B.Tech in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering; Diploma or Bachelors in Metallurgy Experience with analytical tools such as SEM, EDS, and EBSD. Knowledge of heat treatment (HT) of Aluminum alloys and corrosion. Prior experience within the automotive industry is a plus. A Diploma or Bachelors degree in Metallurgy. Strong experience in foundry metallurgy and quality, preferably within an Aluminum alloy casting facility, including expertise in gating design, methoding, microstructures of cast alloys, mechanical testing, and Radiography (ASNT certification). Proficiency with Optical microscopy, Hardness testers, and sample preparation techniques (cutting, mounting), as well as Universal Testing Machines (UTM). Lead or support product development and supply chain resiliency programs by identifying commercially viable, cost-effective solutions and development opportunities for RD Design and execute process development strategies in collaboration with suppliers, covering areas such as casting, wrought, powder, coating, and joining Design experiments, perform failure analysis, conduct root cause investigations, and implement continuous improvements utilizing metallurgical knowledge Operate and interpret results from analytical tools including SEM, TEM, XRD, UTM, and Fatigue testing, establishing correlations between microstructure and mechanical properties Collaborate with product design and advanced manufacturing teams to align material requirements with system-level specifications Responsible for making dispositions on PPAP, non-conforming, and off-standard materials Write technical reports and interact with geographically distributed internal business units to provide material solutions, acting as a troubleshooter through in-person plant visits and supplier auditing Interact with national labs, universities, and consortiums to jointly develop and evaluate new processes and materials Create and enforce standardized procedures and specifications through documentation aligned with business needs.
