In our water business, that means supporting UK water companies in delivering resilient and efficient clean water networks through advanced modelling, analytics, and digital solutions. As a Principal Engineer in Clean Water Modelling, you will play a pivotal role in delivering AMP programme outcomes, helping clients optimise network performance, enhance resilience, and meet regulatory and customer service objectives. Key duties include Provide technical leadership in clean water network modelling across UK water utility projects.Lead development, calibration, and validation of hydraulic models for large-scale clean water distribution networks.Deliver modelling studies aligned with AMP programmes and regulatory performance requirements.Undertake and reviewDemand forecasting and distribution input analysisNetwork capacity assessments and hydraulic performance evaluationsPressure management and operational optimisation studiesLeakage analysis and reduction strategiesNetwork resilience and outage scenario analysisLead optioneering and system optimisation, including network reinforcement, rezoning, and operational improvements.Support development ofWRMP (Water Resource Management Plans) inputsInvestment planning and business cases (e.g., PR submissions)Prepare and review technical reports, modelling documentation, and analysis outputs in line with UK water industry standards.Ensure modelling outputs align with regulatory frameworks (OFWAT, DWI, Environment Agency).Establish and enforce modelling standards, QA/QC processes, and best practices.Perform technical assurance reviews of models, data inputs, assumptions, and outputs.Engage with UK water company clients, supporting model reviews, technical workshops, and decision-making discussions.Identify data gaps, uncertainties, and risks; define strategies for improvement and mitigation.Mentor and guide engineers and modellers, supporting capability development within the team.Drive innovation through digital tools, automation, scripting, and data-driven workflows. Relocation support may be provided for exceptional candidates having extensive experience in delivering Design Build water infrastructure projects. Work Experience Over 15 years of experience in clean water network modelling and planning, with strong focus on UK water utility projects.Deep expertise in InfoWorks WS Pro and/or Synergi for large-scale hydraulic modelling.Experience delivering modelling studies aligned with AMP cycles (AMP6/7/8).Strong understanding ofUK water industry standards and modelling practicesRegulatory frameworks (OFWAT, DWI, Environment Agency)Asset management and investment planning processesDemonstrated experience inNetwork optimisation and pressure managementLeakage analysis and reductionNetwork resilience and scenario modellingProven capability in technical leadership, QA/QC, and mentoring modelling teams.Experience in client engagement, technical reviews, and stakeholder discussions.Experience in data analysis, interpretation, and model-driven decision support. Familiarity with digital delivery, automation, and advanced analytics is desirable Qualifications Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline) Masters degree in Water Resources / Environmental Engineering (or relevant field) Preferred Attributes CIWEM AccreditationExperience working within UK frameworks or with water utility clientsStrong written and verbal communication skills are essential for client-facing responsibilities. Ability to work effectively within global delivery teams supporting UK clients. Hybrid Work Expectation Average office presence of 3 days per week or as per Company Policy, with travel for client/site .
