Job Title: Technical Lead / Senior Java Developer Department: Software Development Experience Level: 8 to 10 Years Base Location: Pune, India Education Requirement: MCA / BE / B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent Employment Type: Full-Time Position Objective We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead (Java) to drive the design, development, and architecture of our mission-critical banking and payment applications. In this role, you will balance high-impact hands-on development with technical leadership, ensuring our engineering team delivers scalable, high-performance, and secure software. A deep understanding of real-time payment systems (IMPS/UPI) and advanced database performance tuning is critical for success in this role. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership Architecture (Primary) Design Development: Lead the end-to-end design and development of robust Java/J2EE applications utilizing modern microservices architecture and industry best practices. Hands-on Engineering: Write clean, efficient, and secure code while providing clear technical direction and architectural decisions to the development team. Code Governance: Define, enforce, and continuously evolve coding standards, ensuring regular, rigorous code reviews to maintain optimal code quality, performance, security, and maintainability. Database Ownership: Take ownership of complex database design, advanced SQL/PLSQL scripting, and proactive performance tuning to eliminate bottlenecks. Delivery: Ensure timely, high-quality feature delivery aligned with business timelines. Collaboration Mentorship (Secondary) Team Growth: Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering an environment of technical growth, continuous learning, and adherence to testing standards (high unit test coverage via JUnit/Mockito). Problem Solving: Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for complex system failures and implement reliable, long-term architectural or code-level fixes. Cross-functional Alignment: Partner closely with Product Owners, Architects, and QA teams to clarify ambiguous requirements and streamline delivery. Operational Support: Provide high-tier framework support and impact analysis to production teams during critical escalations. Required Knowledge Skills Domain Expertise (Must-Have) Banking Domain: Proven experience working within the Banking, Financial Services, or Fintech sector. Payments: Strong functional knowledge and experience with real-time payment ecosystems, specifically IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) and UPI (Unified Payments Interface). Technical Skills (Primary) Java Core: Expert-level proficiency in Java (J2SE, J2EE, Core Java), with a deep understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and enterprise design patterns. Frameworks: Extensive experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and handling complex concurrency issues via Spring Thread Pools. ORM: Deep hands-on experience with Hibernate and JPA. APIs: Expert knowledge in RESTful API design, lifecycle management, and secure implementation. Databases: Proficient in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) with advanced SQL/PLSQL skills and proven database tuning capabilities. Infrastructure OS: Strong working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems, and application servers like Tomcat and Nginx. Tools: Expert proficiency with Git and Maven. Desirable Skills (Secondary / Nice-to-Have) UI Frameworks: Familiarity with modern frontend ecosystems (Angular, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) or Java-based UI frameworks like Vaadin and Spring MVC. DevOps: Experience configuring and working with CI/CD automation pipelines (Jenkins).
