As a Data Visualization Expert at Jarvis Technology & Strategy Consulting, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw numbers into compelling visual stories. Your primary responsibility will be to design and build dashboards, infographics, and narrative reports that effectively communicate complex data in a visually striking and easy-to-understand manner. You will collaborate with analysts, leadership, and clients to ensure that the reports not only provide accurate insights but also convey a clear narrative with key takeaways. Key Responsibilities: - Design and build dashboards, infographics, and narrative reports that simplify complex data into visually appealing representations. - Transform datasets and analytical outputs into storyboards with a structured flow: context, trend, insight, recommendation. - Establish and maintain the visual identity of all reports including typography, color palettes, layout, and information hierarchy. - Develop interactive dashboards using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or equivalent. - Create custom visualizations using Python (matplotlib, seaborn, plotly) or D3.js / Chart.js when standard tools are insufficient. - Produce client-ready PDFs, decks, and one-pagers using PowerPoint, Figma, or Canva. - Collaborate closely with data scientists and analysts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of visualizations. - Incorporate stakeholder feedback to improve visualizations and maintain version-controlled report templates. Required Qualifications: - 25 years of experience in data visualization, BI reporting, or analytics storytelling. - Proficiency in at least two of the following: Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, Google Data Studio. - Advanced skills in Excel including pivot tables, conditional formatting, and chart customization. - Familiarity with SQL for independent data extraction and shaping. - Demonstrable design sense with a portfolio showcasing past reports, dashboards, or infographics. - Strong understanding of visualization principles such as chart selection, color theory, and data-ink ratio according to Tufte. Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of Python (pandas + plotly / matplotlib) or JavaScript (D3.js, Chart.js). - Experience in design tools like Figma, Adobe Illustrator, or Canva for polished print outputs. - Proficiency in PowerPoint for creating professional decks. - Familiarity with Google Apps Script / Google Sheets dashboards. - Previous experience in consulting, data journalism, agencies, or analytics-heavy fields. What You'll Bring: - A storyteller's instinct to identify the headline of data. - Attention to detail in alignment, spacing, font weights, and axis labels. - Curiosity about the data itself, beyond just its display. - Ability to generate three visual options from vague briefs. Portfolio Requirement: Applications must include a portfolio showcasing your work. Please provide 23 examples demonstrating: - A dashboard designed end-to-end, preferably interactive. - A narrative report (PDF/deck) that effectively communicates a story. - A 'before vs after' visualization showcasing a clear transformation of a dataset.
