Product Manager - Accounting (Contractor)

Required:

You must fit ONE of these two profiles

Profile 1: Accountant/Controller with Product Experience

CPA, CA, or equivalent accounting certification, OR accounting degree + 2+ years in accounting/controller/finance operations roles

Deep understanding of how finance teams operate, process data, and ensure compliance

2+ years in product management, product operations, or technical roles working on financial software

Proven ability to translate accounting requirements into product solutions

Profile 2: Product Manager with Integration/Financial Systems Experience

3+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, or platforms with complex integrations

Proven track record building products that integrate with ERP systems, accounting software, or financial platforms (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)

Strong understanding of how data flows between systems, data mapping, and system architecture

Demonstrated ability to learn domain expertise quickly and become the expert on customer workflows

Required Skills (both profiles):

Strong analytical skills: comfortable with SQL, data analysis, building models, and translating data into product decisions

Understanding of how systems integrate and data flows between platforms (you don't need to code, but you need to understand architecture)

Hands-on comfort with AI tooling: ability to test AI-powered features, evaluate model outputs, and prototype solutions

Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP and/or IFRS) and how finance organizations operate (either from direct experience OR from building products for finance teams)

Domain Expertise (varies by profile):

For Profile 1 (Accountant/Controller background): Deep firsthand knowledge of how finance teams work, what accuracy means in an accounting context, and how regulatory/compliance requirements impact workflows

For Profile 2 (PM with integrations experience): Demonstrated ability to deeply learn customer workflows, become the domain expert, and translate complex requirements into product solutions. You should be able to learn accounting concepts quickly and speak credibly with controllers and CFOs

Communication & Execution:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—can write executive-quality strategy docs and present to CFOs

Strong customer discovery skills: can run effective interviews with controllers and finance teams

Bias for action: you ship, iterate, and improve based on real user feedback

Location & Work Style:

Based in Latin America, preferably Mexico, Colombia, or Brazil

Deep understanding of LatAm accounting practices, regulatory requirements, and business operations

Willingness to work across global time zones, including up to 10% travel

Strongly Preferred

Experience with expense management, AP automation, or spend management products

Background in management consulting (Bain, BCG, McKinsey) with a focus on finance/accounting transformations

Experience working with global, multi-entity companies with complex accounting requirements

Knowledge of SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit requirements
